I'm so happy to have found your channel. Subscribed. I had an Olympia SG1 in very good condition. It had the most perfect text alignment of all the typewriters I have owned, even better then the Hermes 3000. Sadly I had to let the Olympia go, as I was downsizing. Hopefully someone is enjoying it as much as I did.
I'm so pleased I am not the only person fascinated by typewriters thinking about collecting them. I'm in awe at some of them on ebay. The workmanship just boggles my mind
eBay is nice for exploring! You will likely find better prices on Facebook Marketplace or good ol’ Craigslist though. They really don’t make these machines like they used to! If you want to hear some great free content about typewriters check out the Austin Typewriter Ink Podcast… I’m not affiliated but I devoured all the episodes recently 😅
Recently bought a Olympia Traveller de Luxe in a beach town. It smells like mold and sadness so I have to clean it out. That’s how I found your channel. 😊
Thanks! They are fun to have around. If you find a working one for $50 or less that’s a good place to start. Or ask relative and neighbors what they’ve got collecting dust
Good video! Do you use the '47(my favorite, ('40s, Hemingway connection)or the Hermes on a semi or regular basis? I think it would be neat to see you banging away on the keys, doing some work and folks wondering what you are doing...Although I don't type, I am from a time when this was top-of-the-line technology just before computers became really big...I've seen some real artists work these machines and enjoy listening to them being put through their paces...Also, Mia is a sweetheart, she's thinking; Zeb had screen time, so should I! Thanks!
