I’ve been running Lava Plume on my Torkoal. It gives Typhlosion flash fire boost for the second turn as long as Torkoal makes its move. I just run Charcoal on my Typhlosion though.

A combo I tried in doubles was amoruge + thyplosion, both with flash fire and both with lava plume

overheat is a really underrated move on this pokemon, i’d run it over flamethrower any day

You forgot to mention the big thing about making it grass, Flash fire Typhlosion is immune to fire so it trades it's ground and water weaknesses for basically only flying since it hits bugs and ice types super effectively

Its so nice regular typhlosion is actually good for once. It basically had the regieleki problem, it’s really good, but has piss poor coverage options. Having shadow balls, on regular typhlosion not just the hisuian one, is huge! That and terastalization giving it a second option if you want it, oh thats huge! Like seriously, before this the only other special coverage moves that were even remotely usable were solar beam which needed sun, focus miss, hyper beam and its mandatory nap time, mediocre swift, and extrasensory if you bred one to have it, which was actually just a good option. Like it’s had such terrible coverage for so long, so glad it finally has a chance to shine, with or without its new form!

Flash fire Tera grass in sun sounds actually pretty good. You could even hit it with a move from your torkoal maybe to power it up on purpose

These buffs make it look slightly more appealing, but keep in mind Typhlosion is still a massive noob trap. No boosting options means he's reliant on items to be a threat, and needing to run specs or scarf to cover up for his meh SpA and speed means he can't run heavy duty boots. This leaves Typhlosion HEAVILY reliant on team support to remove rocks, otherwise the automatic -25% significantly reduces the damage of the Eruption spam that's the only reason to even use Typhlosion in the first place. Middling bulk and vulnerability to all hazards leaves it pretty vulnerable to revenge kills, be they from priority vs scarf sets or anything above 100 speed vs specs. It's not like Typhlosion has good ability options either as his best is Flash Fire, something that gives him immunity to a type he already resists while only boosting fire, which seems nice until you remember fire damage is the one thing it does well already and its other coverage is still weak. Typhlosions' movepool remains outright awful without burning your Terra slot. Shadow Ball is an okay addition for coverage but still not very powerful (it NEEDS specs to 2HKO bulky Dirge and can't with scarf, and even if you force a switch you've now locked your Typ into a middling power non-stab and will need to switch right after), and if your next best options for coverage after that are the unreliable Solar Beam and Focus Blast you're REALLY scrapping the bottom of the barrel. There are just so many other fire types that're better than Typhlosion is basically every other category outside of predictable Eruption spam that there's basically just no reason to use it ever. Charizard has the same stats and is naturally immune to toxic spikes/sticky web thanks to flying and can run boots to avoid rocks without sacrificing power thanks to Solar Power's special attack boost, + amuch better movepool including all the coverage options Typhlosion has (minus extrasensory which sucks anyway) including actual ground coverage, roost, an actual secondary stab, AND the option to run physical for unpredictability thanks to DD and belly drum+flame charge. Delphox is faster, has better special attack, an actual secondary stab, actual boosting moves, and more reliable coverage like dazzling gleam and grass knot. That's just other starters in a similar tier, when you compare it to more mainstream competitive mons like Chandelure, Volcarona, Skeledirge, Iron Moth, Armarouge, Mega Houndoom in natdex, and even its own Hisuian form it just becomes all the more apparent that it isn't viable. Tldr Typhlosion sucks don't use him

Typhlosion is great for sun team, thanks to boost to its fire moves and access to solar beam to beat water pokemon. Sad part is - power creep. It relies on either choice specs or choice scarf. But still i love this pokemon.

Now add Feraligatr and buff my boy to crazy amounts, he deserves it.

For me the fire sweeper is armouruge with drought torkoal Set up torkoal put enemy sleep so it forces to switch and after that switch to armouruge you can use choice Spec or scarf and terastelize fire and hit him with armor Cannon that damage is Mamamia

Dual eruptions from those demons would make a flash fire mon damn near mandatory

Typhlosion and Charizard have the exact same stat distribution, so it would make sense that anything that would work for Charizard, would work for Typhlosion.

Tera fire scarf burn up hits WAY harder then eruption and is a lot more spam-able, eruption is only good if your higher hp. But like scald-bro (scald no longer being on slowbro) it’s nice having a decent alternative bc tyfoshion is underrated

The idea of a grass terastallize is actually pretty good when you think about it, not just that water weakness. You also have ground typing which is also super affective against fire itself. Now when you put it this way, it may also be able to endure ground typing attacks which the grass terastallization is able to have the Pokémon do. And the grass Tera blast would also be super effective against ground. Because of its weakness to grass type. I’m guessing typhlosion with the grass Tera might be unstoppable… but you didn’t forget grass weaknesses, right? RIGHT!????

Focus scarf might see more success here, seeing as how big speed power creep is, that paired with the sun, and teratyping, its gonna make for one hell of a nuke

Burn up is also I great move to use since if you Tera fire, burn up can’t remove your fire type, allowing you to spam it as much as you want

I’d say run terra ghost, since you hit ghosts with stab and keep your stab on your original typing allowing you to do even more damage, and pair it with an assault vest to make it tankier, with eruption flamethrower shadow ball and one more special move

The biggest buff he got was to his size, NGL. Even if Hisuian Typhlosion got it first, this boy is a HECKING CHONKER! And the one you get from the raid, according to the Size Queen in Mesagoza, is THE SMALLEST SPECIMEN POSSIBLE!

If that Tera raid taught me anything, is that now I hate Eruption. Having an Annihilape with slightly slower speed getting destroyed by Eruption spam was infuriating. Typholsion roaring damn near every 5 seconds didn't help, and now I can't hear it without getting a little pissed.

It's so nice to see Typhlosion get some much-needed love in the last two games, from the Hisuian variant that spear-headed the concept of a Fire/Ghost starter with a signature move that's a strictly better Hex, to giving default Typhlosion a much more diverse move pool so it has utility beyond spamming Eruption... while also making its Eruption spamming even more effective. Now if only Meganium and Feraligatr can get the same level of love and updates, starting with taking advantage of the characters per name increase so after twenty years, it can finally be properly spelled "Feraligator." Functionally, the Jhoto starters were the worst in the entire franchise, so it'd be great to see them all go through a redeeming arc.

I use burn out so even if you get hit, u still do much damage while eruption lowers in power if u get hit.

Who remembers teaching your typlosion the elemental punch’s mainly thunder punch I felt so damn strong after it who else did that

TYPHLOSION GOT A NEW COVERAGE MOVE THIS IS UNHEARD OF

Or make it electric add a good item to boost attack and run thunder punch for flying and water would be great counter to rain teams. Could give it flying as then only vulnerable to electric, which means fire and thunderpunch will take care of most other things.
