In this video on typhoid, i have talked about typhoid fever treatment and management guidelines in detail. i have also discussed severe typhoid (Quinolone resistant typhoid) Treatment and extensively Drug-resistant typhoid fever treatment. I have discussed symptoms, and clinical presentation of typhoid according to a week of salmonella Typhi infection. Pathogenesis of salmonella typhi and transmission of typhoid fever and typhoid vaccination is also explained. How to treat typhoid patients in hospital as well as in OPD is explained. This video is part of my medicine lectures series on infectious medicine which is a very high-yield chapter for USMLE step 2 CK as well as NCLEX, NLE, and neet pg exams.

I see typhoid cases every day.. here in South sudan, we use Widal test... and widal tend to be positive whenever blood smear for malaria parasite is ++ and after treating malaria alone, the widal results changes to negative and the patient improves.... Please can you help me clarify.. or try finding out? Thank you for your endless education

In Typhoid 60 years old female, 10 days are passed, doctor give her taxim of in the 1st phase, 2nd phase after 5 days patient did not recover then azithromycin 500 give her, yet not progress. Can I give her lizomed 600 be,in the mid time clarithromycin 500 Od,zincovit bd,montek lc Od ??pls sir suggest and advise me.

Typhidot IgM and IgG are more sensitive. Widal test is now obsolete.

Sir we work in rural area primary health center.whenever we advice test for Widal in patient with previously treated patient and result shows positive always.In this condition what test should we advice.because blood culture is not possible in this area.and how can we decide that this case was typhoid or not

Typhidot(IgG, IgM) is available now in rural areas. Typhidot is more convinient than Widal.

Hello my widal test shows type O antigen : 1:80 docter has started ceftriaxone 2g iv for 3 days along with it he has given Azithromycin and cefpodoxime proxetil 200 mg oral for 5 days do it need to take this oral drugs? I had very mild fever no other symptoms ..if any doc is reading this comment can u please help me
