My favorite instant read of the ones I've tried is the Fireboard Spark. The display on it is just fabulous, and it connects to the Fireboard app, has a port for a wired probe, so you can use it as a leave in, or as a remote display for the Fireboard in your house, etc. Just a great piece of tech.
Thanks for an interesting comparison. Glad you pointed out the issues with built in batteries that cannot be replaced. A LOT of products now have them and will fail only because the batteries no longer work. On top of that, they will need to be disposed of as hazardous waste. BTW, it's spelled ThermApen, not ThermOpen.
