Yasmeen never gets the props she deserves but then again she was never into the whole scene like that, she was all business on the catwalk but off it she was very private. It's hard to find anything on her these days. But she was definitely in my opinion second only to Naomi on the catwalk.

Linda Evangelista is honestly one of the most iconic fashion models of all time...Linda was THE face of late 80s and early 90s high fashion. You couldn't go anywhere on the planet without seeing her face. She was everywhere!

Although I'm sure she would loved to turn into Naomi, she would never do it because Naomi hated her back in the day because she thought people around Tyra was trying to make her exactly like her. That's pretty much why they never liked each other because of Naomi's insecurity of her.

what i noticed is that Tyra always talk about supermodels in a very limited way because she is not a friend of them as i havent seen any supermodel mentioned her either so if u see interviews of Naomi she literally knows everything as supermodels also always talk about between them like Christy, Helena, Cindy, Carla, Kate, Linda, Eva, Claudia, Naomi, Stephanie, Yasmeen, Valeria,etc
She did high fashion for a short time so that's why she never got close to them. It's not her fault though. I mean she came later and there was already a black girl - and y'all know in those days there's only room for one black girl - so unfortunately she had to be voted off the island. But she did find great success as a VS model. I don't know why people are tearing her down just because she didn't find success as a high fashion model. She had found way more success and longevity than most supermodels of her time. JHud didn't win American Idol but she went on to have more success than the other American Idol winners (with the exception of Kelly and Carrie). It's not always about winning. It's about how you use the opportunity that's been given to you. Modelling opened many doors for Tyra and she took them.

I think the only time that I know of where a model had any say in a choice of a model was Linda Evangelista telling designers that she would not walk for them unless Naomi was hired. Yet Tyra, blabbed on interviews ... to all and sundry publically that Naomi made her life difficult by asking designers to not hire her. What a load of crap!! She banged on, on her talk show how she was disadvantaged! Talk about backstab!! The top models and supermodels had a genuine love and knowledge of fashion and clothes. Naomi was a real high fashion supermodel, Tyra was never that successful as a high fashion model, kind of 2nd tier. She got famous because of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover, if it wasn't for that no one would really know who she is. She was never a regular cover or editorial girl for Vogue, Bazaar or Elle which true supermodels like Cindy, Linda, Naomi, Christie, etc. were.

Its the same thing when people compare Gisele and Adriana Lima. Gisele was the one on every cover,editorials,ad campaigns,runway, muse to legendary photographers,on every vogue cover each month, and Adriana was doing guess,Victoria's secret and maybelline. I'm not saying which is better high fashion or commercial, but I never understood when people compared commercial lingerie/swimwear models to fashion models. Complete different career trajectories and criteria. (Although Naomi and Gisele were both very successful in commercial modeling as well). The commercial girls are never that successful in high fashion.

Claudia was one of the highest paid and had the most magazine covers.all the big 6 Supermodels were equal but in different areas. The Trinity (naomi,christy,linda) were the high fashion darlings while Cindy and Claudia were the mega stars (workout ttapes,tv shows,highest paid etc). So they all were a group success but in different ways. Was never a competition between the big 5 Supermodels.

She may not be the high fashion model in her time, but she is made for american tv.She is the master class of modeling thats why ANTM had a successful run for 20 plus season.
Claudia Shiffer was the highest paid Top model in the 90's, she was absolutely the no.1. Then Naomi, Kat Moss and Linda Evangelista. I didn't know Grace Jones was a Top model.
Back then there was a group of "top 6" who were pretty much equal in terms of fame,work,Etc and they were Cindy,Linda,Christy,Claudia,Naomi and Kate. There was really no "#1" girl who was ruling everything all by herself. Although Cindy and Claudia ruled the covers way more than Naomi did. For me the trinity (linda,christy,naomi) were the fashion darlings while cindy and Claudia were the commercial sex symbol superstars. Naomi is a legend but you can not say she was ever way bigger than the other big 5. It was a group thing. Its not like Gisele who ruled everything solo in the early 2000s. The 90s Supermodels were a phenomenon because as a group they did every5hing together, covers,catwlaks,commercials,editorials, ad campaigns. You name it. Only thing I Agree with is that Naomi stayed in the game the longest but in the 90s they were all equal/huge.
