What are half decent replacements for exocrines/haruspexes considering the kits have been sold out for months and people are crazy wanting 250+ for pre builts. Would carnifexs just be the next best thing to take?
If you want to play with monsters there is nothing else that comes close to the damage potential without a major cost increase. Melee Carnifexes are the only other Monster which has a Melee weapon with over 9 strength, 12 instead of Haru's 14, but 1 AP more so depending on the target it could be better or worse. The problem is, while it's additional Melee attacks are a bit stronger than Haru's, the Carni has only 2, where Haru has 14. It's really a one trick Pony. Range Carnifexes can also not really compete with an Exocrine because you can't go double Venom Cannon. BUT if you play Hybrid Carnis, with Venom Cannon and Crushing Claws, you can come close to the same high Strength & AP damage per point efficiency. Just be aware that while the free Bio-Plasma and Spine Banks can kill some 1W models, it doesn't come close to what the Haru can do, so adjust the rest of your list accordingly. My go to choice with Hybrid Carnis would be some Pyrovores as Reinforcement, not only can they shred 1W models, they can also prime High Value targets so they loose Benefit of Cover before the Carnis lay into them with their Venom Cannons. And I would also try to take a Hive Tyrant with me to give the Carnis Assault in the 1st turn, though that depend on your Points limit. On Incurstion the map is so small that you probably don't need it. (Though the Hive Tyrant has a lot more going for it than Assault, so it may still be a worthwhile choice)
PS: If you don't have ANY Haruspex to use Rapid Ingress on, consider picking up a Trygon. Using it's 3" Deepstrike with 4 Objective Control after the enemies movement can flip objectives and will at least soak a lot of fire. If it actually survives to your turn, you don't just hold the objective, the Damage potential is also comparable to a Haru and a charge is way easier to pull of when the enemy is only 3" from you. ^^ Just be aware that while the enemy can't move after Rapid Ingress, he can declare charges. So when you use it to go onto an objective either position yourself far enough that nothing with enough OC can charge you or use your model to block the part of the objective facing the enemy to maximize the distance he has to roll, because he would have to charge around you.
@@Ryuichiro13 trygon kit has also been sold out for months and people want too much on those secondary as well lol. I’m fine paying extra but ppl want 2x + GW on stuff. Guess I’ll just stop building tyranids then
@@TheVideoGameAddict15 You have my condolences. I don't have the patience to paint myself so my whole 40k Experience is in TTS. Considering the amount of Theorycrafting and Min-Maxing I do, I would probably go bankrupt and or crazy with the prices and availability of official models.
I just got a harradin. What detatchment would you use for all the biggest stuff? Crusher seems super weak, but the +1 to hit might be better on a 30 wound bug. Ill have a harradin, a heirophant, a norn, a flyrant, fill the rest with rippers or gargoyles.
I also really want to make assimilation work. But I think focusing on monsters is a trap. D3 heals will average to 2 but often will just be a single wound back. Where as infantry will heal 2-4 wound models back. Even an endless multitude will spawn back 3 wounds. Also haruspexes are super squishy without the 2CP strat..I think 3 haruspexes is a trap.
I haven't run it yet but Im building a 1000pt assimilation army. Tervigon with 2 large squads of Terms for lethal hits, TyranidPrime with 6 melee Warriors, Parasite of Mortrex, 2 Pyrovores (separate), 1 psychophage, and 2 ripper swarms. I'm often fighting Dark Angels so I *don't want* to battleshock. Furthermore my list creates target saturation so that my melee Warriors can actually get into combat. I'm worried my opponent will start fielding more tanks soon so I've got the Tervigon and Terms for added anti tank. Although they are bashed so badly, I'm thinking a group of Hive Guard with anti tank might be great with regeneration (4 wound infantry).
I feel that; Haruspexes aren't super tanky. But they are CHEAP for what they can do. Psychophages are overprices, If you are only going to use rippers and Pyrovores as Harvester, might as well play a different detachment. I'll be trying it soon, we'll see what is learned.
@@maelstromgamingstudios5240 I think that the phages are tankier than me most people give them credit for. They effectively have 15 wounds. I agree they likely need to be 10-15 points cheaper, but not spending those 2 cp for a FNP I think will matter quite a bit.
Its not, i just went 5-0 at 140 person event. Running ass swarm. They regen themselves on objectives, and unless you get hit with obliterators in melta range, they are unkillable with the strat.
@@maelstromgamingstudios5240 wow you are right lol thanks for the correction I must have assumed that was on of the differences between the norns nice to know they both have it
I played a very similar list of Invasion fleet. Since I'm new to the game I wanted to try the Lictors and Leapers so I had those instead of Barbs and a Pyro. The first game I lost pretty badly, but the second game after I became more bold the list really shined trough. Made a lot of mistakes but ended up less than 10 points behind. Scored Secondaries very well because of those evasive bois too.
I dunno if my math is off or what, but I'm getting 2090 pts for the assimilation swarm list. This calls for 9 pyrovores, right? Also, I'm getting 1825 for the Invasion
first time i used my deathleaper in my army was also the first unit that died witoud doing anything 1rst turn (it died in cc againt drukhari)...i dont know why you suggest him in every list
Could be OK. That strat only works on Synapse creatures. Most of ours have an Invuln and cover isn't too difficult to get. So if you are running a more infantry based list I'd see it.
Hey guys I'm having difficulty deciding something and any help would be greatly appreciated. I have 20 termegants in my list. I'm trying to decide if I want to 2 groups or 10 or just one big blob.
Honestly depends on the rest of the list and the detachment. Both have great play. If these are just objective grabbers, 10 man squads. If you're going for Durability you'll want the 20.
