Tyrian Remake 2016 

This gets my seal of approval.

Honestly, I think this looks fantastic. I wish there was more information about this project.

Get this on Nintendo Switch, and you will never -ever- have to work a single day in your life again.

Here's some constructive criticism (based on what I'm seeing here, maybe you've stopped working on it or fixed it) The camera angle isn't good. Have the camera tilt the way it does makes it way harder than it should be to line up enemies. On one part of the screen your bullets go straight up, on the edge they go at a crazy angle. The same can be said about the HUD. There's a reason games don't have floating UI's like this, it's really distracting and hard to read. Sure, maybe it looks flashy, but once the novelty wears off you just realise it makes it hard to read. The point of a UI isn't to look cool, it's to provide the player with important information quickly. Concentrate on making the UI easy to read and then if you've got ideas on how to make it look cool without compromising that then try that.

Amazing work! I stumbled upon this after a nostalgic run through the old retro OSTs, Tyrian included. Yours is an inspiring effort! First thing that jumped at me is how true to the original the craft models are. Well done!

This springs to mind my idea of what if Tyrian was 3D but it moved like Star Fox where you can move up/down rather than forward/backward.

I truly wish this was a full fledged completed and released game!

Kudos to you for trying this. Tyrian is still one of best in its genre and I fire it up every now and then with DOSBox. I wonder why no one has tried to replicate it with modern hardware before.

While there are some issues, this is a very good start, and it looks amazing. Most of the problems are minor, and this looks like it could become something incredible.

Awesome work. I'd love if someone like Nightdive or similar hired you and picked this up to be released as a full fledge project on steam. They are super cool and remaking a ton of old games lately, so you should seriously consider contacting them (and the original developer who released this as freeware) to do this. They just had a live stream tonight and it's pretty amazing how many other old games they are supporting for a modern release.

Awesome, great first attempt. There's a few tweaks here and there that could be made to make it work better in the 3rd dimension, but a fantastic alpha version.

Since the original tyrian assets got open-sourced on the artist's page (Lost Garden), it'd be cool if you'd be willing to put the 3d models on opengameart. Those buildings are great adaptations!

Is this project still going? It looks absolutely great! The amount of care put into the authenticity is absolutely stellar.

Field of view isn't very good. (You could keep the top-down view too as alternative) There is no shield animation yet and when the ship got hit it's playing de armor sound effect (clang-clong). The models need a little bit more details and work, but that is a good start.

Aww this is so cool, I actually started a pretty much identical project years ago but put it on hold for other things. Really cool to see someone else take it way further than I did. Not sure if you'll ever revisit this, but I certainly would love to see progress if you do. Tyrian is one of my all time favorites.

Oh WOW! This looks pretty cool. I think it could use some extra speed and it's not really a "remake" of the shooter if it's the camera isn't from the top. No prob - it's WIP. The moving HUD (?) is a nice touch!
