I've been out of the military for seven years. I still stand at attention, put my hand to my heart, and I get tears in my eyes. I have friends whose last memories were in the mountains of Afghanistan. No matter what somebody FEELS about what the flag represents, it is a symbol that signifies the nature of sacrificing one's self for a greater cause. I will never tolerate people disrespecting the American flag. Ever.

So did everyone who fought in Vietnam, and also my father who was bogged down in Korea for two years. The Constitution was developed by free thinkers, and every citizen is encouraged to be one as well. If you blindly support your country, then we can assume that you also follow with question the directions of your President, never objecting, never opposing him, because he is the Commander-in-Chief of the military and the nation. To do otherwise would be to follow in the footsteps of this Olympian with whom you disagree.
