In this clip, Tyson Beckford opened up about meeting the NYC gang the Lo Lifes, who were known for stealing large amounts of Ralph Lauren goods from various department stores around NYC. Tyson said he became enamored with the crew while living in Brooklyn and seeing a big group of guys wearing head-to-toe Ralph Lauren and wondering how they were able to afford it. Tyson then revealed that he came to understand how they got the clothes by stealing, and he added that they would give him items from time to time. To hear more, including how he never spoke to Ralph Lauren about his affiliation after becoming the face of the brand, hit the above clip.

True story. Back in like 1996, me and a friend went to Birch Run in Michigan with 2 guys to shop at all the outlets. Me and my friend had money and spent all afternoon shopping at different stores, eating lunch, etc. The other 2 guys we were with stayed at the Polo/Ralph Lauren store the whole time (over 3 hours). When it was time to drive back to Detroit, we met the 2 guys and they showed us the trunk of the car was FILLED with Polo shit. They was boostin the whole afternoon. They said they went into the dressing room, put the clothes on underneath their clothes and just walked out the store. Over and over and over and over, right past the security guard. Watching this makes me wonder if they knew about or were inspired by the Lo Lifes.

I'm from Flatbush Brooklyn. I went to Midwood H.S., Sheepshead Bay, and Beach Channel H.S. in Far Rock. Everybody knew back in the day that if you didn't Flam Lo, you was "mad herby." A "herbwad." I wasn't rocking Lo until 1992-1993, when a cat from Flatbush's NBC Chapter of Deceps started putting me on with Lo Sport rugbys. If you took it upon yourself to Flam Lo for self anywhere in Brooklyn or riding the train to Manhattan, you had to have "mad props," and a certain levels of respect. Cats was "UD deep" downtown Brooklyn, and near the Junction on Flatbush & Nostrand after Midwood H.S. let out. Everybody knew that flaming Lo back in the 1990' s was a Brooklyn airborne bound STD. Everybody had the bug to flam Lo.
