Very clear instructions, followed them exactly. Problem: When I attempt to program next frequency, the frequency entered for 2nd freq appears for both Freqs entered. What am I doing wrong?
"You don't use DCS very often in ham radio?" What??? Many repeaters use DCS instead of CTCSS, or in combination with it. CTCSS for transmissions and DCS for receive, or vice versa. It all is available and just makes for a more specific and secure communication. In the Las Vegas area, there are a number of repeaters that employ DCS. Anyway, interesting video, nevertheless.
What is a decent base station antenna for this radio. Still new to ham so forgive ignorance. If was setting up as a camp base station. What antenna do you recommend.
Hello. I have a TH 7900. Believe I followed these instructions correctly, but when I keyed up after setting up repeater, I got an ERROR message. Any suggestions, anyone? I am able to TX and receive on simplex no prob.
Thanks but I get the encode but you said we should set it to encode and decode? Then you said there is a caveat to that but then said nothing about it ? So do we set it at Enc or Enc/Decode? Thanks for clarifying
Also, sorry for the newbie questions but what is the scoop on people saying the 10 or 6 meter band is useless b/c it only transmits of FM? Not sure I get this?
Hi there, do you have any idea why FRS &GMRS frequencies are not working with this radio, I get error on the display when I try to transmit these frequencies. It does let you program them however
@@bbeen40 since my posting, I found out that the FRS & GMRS are locked out of this radio tyt 9800 BUT! there's are instructions on line on how to unlock it.
@@CinematicTouchProductions I've been looking into it and found the same thing unfortunately I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. I plug the programming cable into my computer, it beeps, then nothing. I knew ham radio would be difficult but I'm starting to think it may be impossible. It's just one confusing problem after another! CHIRP will upload from my radio but won't upload to it. I download the software from TYT's website but can't download it to the radio. Can't find anything anywhere showing me how to do that. The Manuel says nothing. I find links, they don't work. Just one dead end after another. This was supposed to be fun....
Why are some HAM operators such terrible boring people? I have a HAM license, I must be an exception, but than, I hardly use my license as it is always the same boring nonsense. If I want to talk to someone, I use my cellphone.
Why are some guys with ham licenses constantly critical of others, calling them boring? 🤔 See how ridiculous that sounds? 🤦♂️ If you want to call somebody you use your cell. Great. Not sure what you do when you or they have no cell service. That is the whole point of two way radio - communication when phone service of any kind is unavailable.
