Small point of information: both Ireland and the UK have recently had heads of state whose parents came from the Indian subcontinent, so, not only in America!
Not sure about Ireland but Rishi wasn’t voted in… he was explicitly REJECTED by his own party members and then got installed anyway. Also; he came from a rich ass family and married into one of the richest families in the world & now is richer than the King. So no great struggle there. Kamala didn’t have any of that.
Actually neither were heads of state. They were heads of government lol The president of Ireland and the King of Great Britain are the heads of state in those countries lol (and Rishi Sunak's parents actually immigrated from East Africa, though of Indian descent). The former First Minister of Scotland was also of Pakisitani descent
Good rant at 25:00 Ana stating the truth on Palestine and ruining Cenk's hard on for Kamala. I agree with you it ruined the speech and is so disappointing. We had a glimmer of hope at the beginning with Kamala but it appears AIPAC got ahold of her. It will be a deal breaker for many who care about Palestine.
So help me understand. If she somehow goes out and says pretty all she could say without alienating one side or the other that’s horrible and she doesn’t deserve to be President? Trump can pretty say Palestine deserves to get bombed and not a peep. He looks like a strong man and get to be president again. Maybe I’m not understanding you correctly so maybe help me understand.

Ana’s relentless pessimism is exhausting at this point. She needs to be realistic. I know Kamala’s rhetoric on Gaza is not exactly what we want to hear. But if she says she is working to end the war I prefer that to OUR ONLY OTHER OPTION which is Trump who has no intention or desire to end the war. So should we go with the person who expressed sympathy for the Palestinians and is trying to end the war or with the person who does not even view the Palestinians as humans. But there is an opposite huge number of voters that opposes that change, and Harris has to pander to both sides. Harris at least speaks about change. We will have to wait until after the election to see where her heart truly is on this matter.
As a New Zealander let me say Israel is your blind spot..you've backed yourself into a corner on that. But at least Harris is sticking up for Palestinian rights...credit for that at least

What the heck ever happened to doing an interview or a debate? Scheduled debates are an integral part of democracy and are inherently important to getting to know what a candidate believes in, stands for, and promises to accomplish. Kamala has done ZERO of these and in fact has avoided them vigorously. How can you vote for someone when they are incapable and absent from participating in such fundamentals of the democratic process?

Ana your outrage is misplaced. She certainly can’t open up the discussion of cutting off funding to Israel now. That would have derailed all of the work because the country is so divided on that issue.
I’m always blown away by how she doesn’t understand politics. Respectfully Cenk, i don't think the whole World views the US as the greatest country in the world. To be fair, as a child growing up in West-Germany i really did belive in the American dream. As i grew up i learned that this dream was never real, i was just the carrot the capitalists dangle in front of the american public. Today i view the US as a cautionary tale about the deeply flawed capitalist system and about what happens if bad faith actors remove nearly all the guard rails. We can see the downfall of an empire in real time, very sad but maybe just maybe, we as a species can learn something from it.
As a british guy, I do not view the US as the greatest. It is the most powerful and therefore influencial, which is the only reason i pay attention to their politics. I have been a resident of Japan for 25 years and I would never swap it for living in the US. Greed, overly competitive, money-driven, faux religious righteousness, and violence - no thank you. i view the US as a paradise lost. trump would seek out that paradise and then destroy it.
None of us voters are not perfect either. Kamala at least lived the life we did and didn’t forget where she came from. She explained herself well and was personal enough to believe in her.

I'm happy for the USA that kamala has a chance and overall excellent analysis. A bit over the top with US centric stuff about the "only in America Democracy" stuff, there's a more than a few democracies that are healthier and with as much opportunity as America
Why do otherwise reasonable Americans have to declare that the USA is the one and only country where opportunity and democracy exist or where even the children of migrants can achieve the highest office? It is so patently untrue and it makes Americans sound so ignorant and insular.
There are a LOT of GREAT things about her speech and all the others that spoke this week. We have a few wild cards... WILL the Democrats take the House and Keep the Senate... She can talk all she wants about her ideas... But it really has to be a Congress owned by Democrats to drive policies forward... The GOP Congress is AWFUL. Plus.. Who does she put in charge of certain roles within the Government. There's a lot of questions, but she's got my vote for sure.
@TYT While I appreciate your effort, there are times for a breakdown analysis and then there are times to appreciate the moment. Be grateful we have a viable opportunity to save democracy. Be grateful for the great candidate in front of us.
I hate to break it to you guys - The Gaza issue is not that important in America. The effort she and Joe are the most you’re going to get, especially in an election year.
They would get more votes. It would make Kamala a stronger candidate. According to a February 2024 ISPU poll, the majority of American Muslim, Catholic, Protestant (including Evangelicals), and non-affiliated Americans “favor a permanent ceasefire” in Gaza. Interestingly, the researchers found that the majority of Republicans in the general public “also favor a ceasefire” and although just shy of a majority; the American Jewish community are also more likely to favor a ceasefire (50%) rather than oppose one (34%).
I think that too. It's like. Until the Palestinians take action and deal with Hamas, the Hamas will keep attacking Israel and Israel will keep getting a reason to continue their Genocide which is what they want.
@@avtircaritas8229Of course people favor a ceasefire. Just because that is highly supported, it doesn’t mean when Americans go to vote it is a top priority. Also, you can’t have a ceasefire unless Hamas wants a ceasefire

Ana, Cenk, the speech by Democratic POTUS Nominee Harris was outstanding. Ana, I feel your pain for the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, especially Gaza. However, I will reserve judgment until Harris becomes POTUS. Only then, with her Secretary of State in action, will I begin evaluating her efforts. Ana and Cenk you two need to listen to that Gaza Part of the speech again. Because Kamala mentioned Gaza’s Palestinians last and with great passion, in that particular section of the speech that tells me a whole lot. A POTUS Harris will be very different. She will lead with a two-equal-State mindset between Israel & Gaza. Help is on the way. I will continue to advocate for Harris to take a completely different approach with Netanyahu and the IDF, particularly item 5 (below). 1. Offer only defensive weapons. 2. Provide no more cash. 3. Offer coupons to pay defense contractors for their weapons. 4. Ensure that no U.S. weapons or any other offensive means are used against defenseless civilian Palestinians. 5. Immediately deploy the Corps of Engineers to begin planning Gaza’s infrastructure reconstruction. This reconstruction must include a solar field, U.S.-sponsored electric vehicle public transportation, a water filtration plant, and gardening greenhouses.
To be fair. If she came out and said she would cut the funding, a lot of folks we need will not vote for her. She never said she wouldn't do anything. But we need to get her in office first.
I agree she can’t say she’d cut the funding until after the election but honestly, I don’t think she, nor any GOP or Dem Establishment politician, would cut Israel funding of the war until we get the money out of politics bc that’s why they r supporting it. There r way too many gop and liberal Jews, including Israel government funding through straw donors, three of the wealthiest groups buying politicians to support Israel. We’d have to have a landslide election for a far-left dem president, more far-left dems in congress, dem majorities in house and senate with large margins who r going to significantly reduce big/dark money in politics before any of them r going to cut Israel funding. Look at the two progressives Bowman and Bush who lost their elections bc of AIPAC funding bc they supported Gaza’s civilians. As long as these groups/ppl can spend all the money they want to go after these politicians, none of them will risk going against what AIPAC, Jews, and wealthy evangelical republicans want. If progressives were smart, we wouldn’t demand progressives oppose Israel and speak out against them or our progressives will be replaced with Dem establishment politicians in congress. Don’t lose our progressives over one issue, an issue that’s going on in another country. I care about the ppl of Gaza but I care about my own democracy and economy more. Both Israel and Palestinians have combined religion, serous belief in their religions with politics and have chosen far-right, extremist leaders which is never a recipe for peace and moderation. Until they figure that out for themselves and change their ways, there really isn’t anything we can do to help them.
My take on Gaza is that people like Cenk and Ana need to get that there is not some magic way of ending the conflict tomorrow, so just focus on that Kamala is better then Trump on every other issue.
Tim Walz is the most likeable person I've ever seen in politics and Kamala Harris is the most experienced and qualified presidential candidate in U.S. history. We won already.
That kind of complacency and overconfidence is exactly how Hilary lost to him in 2016 and could very well be the reason the Democrats lose again this year. This election will come down to a handful of votes in a limited number of swing states.

She was insanely neocon with foreign policy. We already have the most lethal military. We spend $1 trillion on it every year now. How much should we spend? Why are the Palestinians suffering so greatly, Kamala? Who knows ... Everyone, including Kamala, discuss Hamas like they have equal power dynamics with Israel, not as Palestinians live in an open air prison, not as the Palestinian median age is 18 or 40% of Palestinians are under 14 yrs old, not as the majority of living Palestinians had any vote as to elect Hamas in 2006. Kamala talked about giving the middle class a tax cut. How about we progressively tax the wealthy. How about we shrink the gap between the wealthy and every day American. How about we expand Medicare to reduce skyrocketing medical costs. How about we attack exorbitant education costs that are drowning our younger generations with massive debt.
