FIRST - An announcement: Happy 2024 Everyone! Can you believe we are mostly through January already? Where did our 3 weeks break go? This is our first RU-vid Video upload for 2024 and we can't wait to bring you so many more videos this year.
Anyway - In today's video, we are mixing a batch of Jesmonite AC100. If you don't know what Jesmonite is, it is an acrylic resin and powder composite. Similar products include: Ecrylimer, Castmonite, Ausmonite, Eco Resin, Acrylic Resin. Jesmonite is a 2-part system with a de-mould time of approx. 20 minutes. Jesmonite is solvent free, VOC free and non-toxic.
Jesmonite can be mixed in the same measuring cups that you would mix resin in as it can be easily cleaned once the jesmonite has hardened. We recommend mixing for 30 seconds (without retarder added) or until combined. Any longer and you will significantly decrease your already short working time.
Towards the end of the video we demonstrate how we clean our Drill Mixers. We simply use an old measuring cup filled with water, and use the drill inside the jug. This will wash off the bulk of the jesmonite from the stirrer. We then wipe it clean and it's ready to use again!
