This honestly sounds like a sad moment in a movie about American civil war or revolution but damn this is good

The ‘Rocket’s red glare’ part was always the best, but Jesus did you do it so well.

Our anthem hits differently based on what is happening to our nation today.

It deserves to be in a dystopian film as scenes of ruin are shown.

Only one word can describe the amount of emotion and thought this provokes: Chills

This is a ultra mega underrated version of the Star Spangled Banner!

This song perfectly reflects our country right now. Broken, battered, divided. I live for the day that the United States are once again United. Where we are once again strong. I live for the day that I can be proud of what my country is, not what it once was.

They’d jailed anyone who was “a threat to our democracy.” Ironic. It was all one bud facade over a wannabe dictator’s grab for power. And I had helped him do it. I was just following orders. My thoughts were interrupted by a direct hit to the Capitol dome. The Statue of Freedom came tumbling down. My squad mates screamed. Private Jennings had been hit by shrapnel, Sergeant Jamison had been badly burned by the explosion. I didn’t flinch. Freedom slowly began to fall, and she looked like she was going to fall on me. I was so tired of it all. I wanted out. I wanted to stop killing my countrymen. I couldn’t believe that America had come to this, that she would fall. At the same time, I knew she would. It was inevitable. Freedom broke away and began plummeting down. I was just so tired. I dropped my rifle and simply raised my eyes. Freedom fell, and I closed my eyes, ready to die with her.”

June 26, 2185 You are wandering through the wastelands of America. Everywhere lay bodies of civilians and soldiers. You are in search of food. You haven't eaten in days. This might be your last Day. The sun sets. And there, on An heavily damaged flag pole, waves the American flag one last time.

When I clicked on this video, I thought it would be an instrumental version, no vocals. I was pleasantly surprised by the vocalist though, he truly sold the ambience. As the mood set in, I got chills at every phrase. I felt every ounce of this song, in the deepest manner I've ever felt. This composition made me realize a meaning to this song I never knew before. I will always and forever respect and love my country, and especially the anthem representing it. I hope this hit someone else the same way it hit me.

When listening to this i can think of 2 scenerios, the most popular one here, 2nd American Civil war, and the Fallout Universe, being a US Army Soldier in a remote base on October 23rd 2077 watching Nuclear rockets red glare rise to the sky from the silos and watch the Enemy bombs bursting o'er the Cities, standing there knowing he will die in minutes when the shock wave comes, standing there quietly singing that his flag was still there.

POV: you are the last man standing in a reformed Enclave, an Enclave that finally became what it always should have been, and as you stand there, surrounded by troops of Caesar’s Legion, the Washington Brotherhood, and the other various enemies of America’s light in the wasteland, you know that this is it, you are the last Soldier of America, but as you lay there dying, you hear the blades of a Vertibird overhead, and as you are brought onboard, you see the citizens of America charging forward and you realize, this is not the end, as long as there are those left willing to fight for liberty, equality, and the American dream, America will never die, for you cannot kill an idea, America will live on, and in the end, it will be victorious, no matter how long it may take…

best way i can describe this is chilling to the bone. it describes our country (being in the disrepair it is)perfectly

At the very end of the song from this version, I imagine a soldier from every war in America's history lined up side by side, and whenever he sings, "And the home of the brave" As soon as he says brave, they fire a shot like a military funeral.

I see this as the second American civil war and the rebels have breached the lines and intense fighting begins and I see a solider singing this on top of the White House and gives the soldiers an order to charge for one last time which gives time for the leadership to evacuate to the western part of America in Denver and the men were giving the Medal of Honor in there honor

It is only when the Anthem is put in a minor key, do people actually realize the true meaning of the lyrics. The Star Spangled Banner was written by an American diplomat who was watching from a British ship as an American fort was bombarded with shells, mortars, and congreve rockets, along with a few other types of weapons. Also, contrary to what many people will assume, the reasons that it says "the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there" does not mean that the flag was alluminated, but rather it is a reference to the british threat that they would bombard the fort until the flag was either removed, or it fell due to damage from the attack. Furthermore, a side note is that by the next moring, the flag was litterally being held up by the bodies of those who fell at the foot of the pole

As someone from Czech republic, this makes me so sad. It hits very hard, because thanks to USA, they give us czechs and slovaks freedom in 1918. When america was out during 1938 our nation was lost. And again in 1968 Russians put tanks on us. If USA fall..... Czechs will fall too.

This feels like something I'd see in an alternate history WW2 movie where the US military makes a last stand to defend the white house and capital building from a massive Nazi push.

honestly i wouldnt be surprised if i heard this one random saturday morning across the city

I feel like this would be at the end of one of those sci-fi short stories where the enemy has finally been vanquished and the last remaining survivors gather around a torn and tattered flag which has slanted on a diagonal, and slowly anyone who fought and lost people fall dead from exhaustion as it fades away and the song begins to start. Idk, maybe ill make that into a book idea or something one day, but I love minor keys and how they sound (so much better than major keys which are too cheerful) cause minor keys give that human emotion you need.

As you lay there on the floor, bleeding and tired, you hear the star spangled banner playing in the distance, as you close your eyes, you hear the words “Home of the brave” as your last breath leaves your body

I have been mortally wounded by a bullet from the United Republican Militia for Order and Prosperity (URMOP), the water crisis has plagued our great nation, I can smell gunpowder and carbon pollution in the air. I thought the future would be a neon lightshow of prosperity, but is a grey shitshow of hopelessness. Everything had seemed fine back in the days of 2020. Sure we had a global pandemic, but I fear this will be the end of the world. Nonetheless, God Bless America.
