Larry taught me how to shoot and play 9 ball when I was about 13-14 years old. My age at the time didn't phase him one bit we'd play upwards of 30 racks on 2 different tables @cuenique once a week. When he would get in the "zone" he was nearly unbeatable. Sad to hear of his passing very fond memories. I'll think about him every time I pick up a cue. His attention to detail changed my game forever.

He's one of my favorite players to watch and I miss him also, what types of things did he teach you?

My tips are keep your left shoulder low to the table and keep the left side of your neck pressed to your left shoulder and keep the shaft pressed down on your bridge hand and keep your bridge hand pressed down on the table and keep your bridge hand spread apart to have the most solid bridge that you can.

Form, speed, consistent stroke, controlling the elbow & back hand positioning, hours and hours of three rail bank shots and what kinda English to use. He'd have me bridge through PVC pipe to keep my follow through straight. He made me look two or three moves ahead always.

Larry came to Ft Lauderdale when I was 18. Late 90s. He played phenomenal. He was a very nice guy. I wish him the best, and great prayers.

Sad to hear especially for a great ambassador of the game like Larry. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Cancer I presume?

●●● I just got around to listening TO THE INTERVIEW of Larry Nevel. Mika was (allegedly?) distracted by Larry talking? I remember having a guy watching me play pool in a bar one night ask me if it bothered me "to stand right here?" - he was standing in my "line of sight". I told him "As long as you aren't standing ON the table, I could care less what you're doing." People need to "mentally" block out distractions.

It’s too bad Billy can’t reposition a couple more words into his vocabulary.

I don't know what exactly changed in pool from these epic days until today but the atmosphere and the game feels much much different back then, it feels 10x times better from the 2000 and prior. I believe the pool coverage has been killed off and got worse since 2003 and upwards. Since the invention of the new small arena with singular table where audience are very close to the players and the epicness has been removed. I wish they go back to these setups and these type of colors in the pool balls. Otherwise pool will remain dead for a very very long time.
