The song is supposed to be about domestic abuse. "Is the earth coloured red?, As I land like a flower on the meadow, Love is wild", then "I will return from the shadows, And I'll bleed in your bed, Turn it red, Like the ground outside your window". Like all songs, it is open to interpretation, and especially with Aurora's lyrics. Not all her songs are so dark, and this was from some years ago. She is Norwegian, and now 27. Billy Eilish has publicly stated more than once, that hearing Aurora's Runaway, inspired her to start writing music. IMHO, she is one of the best vocalists, and singer songwriters around.

Great reaction, welcome to a better world. Aurora is not a typical artist, she is not in this for fame or fortune, she had no interest in becoming a singer, she was just driven to put her thoughts and emotions down on paper and also loves music, so she wrote the music too. Her mother convinced her to say yes to her management when approached to sign with them. They discovered her through a leaked song that she made in a studio as a gift to her parents, the sound guy I imagine leaked it. Anyway, she is not a mainstream artist (thank goodness) and her music is thought provoking and beautiful. Hope to see more Aurora on your channel soon.

happy deep dive. she writes music since about 20 years and is super productive. each live version is a solitaire. you will find a couple versions of this song as good as this song but a bit different. but this version is for sure a very special (with silja as background singer, stripped down, acoustic, studio quality).

Congratulations on the first step in your Aurora journey. It only gets better and better. I'd recommend reacting to "Runaway". It's the song that Aurora recommends that people start with. From there, you can literally pick any song, and it's going to be amazing. I'd recommend listening to the studio version, then the live version of every song. Aurora really shines in her live performances, but the studio versions set the standard.

Nice reaction! Aurora is the total package - singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, producer/arranger, choreographer, and an absolutely lovely human being (and she’s just 27 years old!). She will often perform her songs quite differently - sometimes with her band, other times stripped down to just her and one instrument, a cappella, with full orchestra, etc. - so it is definitely worth listening to different versions of the same song. Also, her videos are mini-masterpieces as well. A short list of original songs: Runaway - Nobel Peace Prize concert and her music video Through the Eyes of a Child - Nidarosdomen concert, my recommendation Live Stripped - VIVO UK Lift Churchyard - Live on KEXP Winter Bird - Nidarosdomen concert and her music video Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1 - Nobel Peace Prize Concert Lucky - Nidarosdomen concert Little Boy in the Grass - Nidarosdomen concert The Seed - Music Video, HAIK Concert The River - Music video, Live in Bergen 2020 Exist For Love - Music video, Daydreamer - Music video She also does some awesome covers: Life on Mars - David Bowie Believer - Imagine Dragons God is a Woman - Ariana Grande Across the Universe - John Lennon Teardrop - Massive Attack Rasputin - Boney M And of course there is her latest album “The Gods we can Touch” which is pure gold!

Just subscribed. I've seen Aurora live and she's fantastic, funny, quirky, I love her! She has a wide range styles. From soothing "Through the Eyes of a Child" to poppy "Cure for me" to "In Boxes" a tongue in cheek song about a female serial killer who keeps body parts under her bed (Lollapalooza, Chicago 2016.8.1). lol. She's just amazing.

I’m definitely subscribing, loved your reaction👍 This song was (like others have said) inspired by domestic violence, she gets killed, and in the end she comes back to haunt him. Aurora (Aurora Aksnes) is a Norwegian singer/songwriter/dancer and music producer She’s self taught when it comes to singing and playing piano Aurora herself says that Runaway, her breakthrough song, is a great place to start. It’s a song she wrote when she was 11 years old, and it means a lot to her. If you want to check this song out, I recommend the live performance at the Nobel peace prize concert 2015 I also recommend: “Through the eyes of a child” live at Nidarosdomen (cathedral in Norway) 2017 This is also an important song for her “The Seed” live at the HAIK concert 2019 Another important song for her. The male choir was a surprise to her “Soft Universe” live at Nidarosdomen 2017

One of my favorite Aurora songs... but I have a lot of them ;-) Aurora is a unique and very authentic artist and very versatile. She can also be quite temperamental. I'll just suggest a few of her songs that I like: "Queendom", "Cure For Me", "The Seed" and "Across the Universe" (Beatles cover). Aurora live is a real experience, but for the songs mentioned I would first start with the official videos.
@Oldperson-wt3ui
@Oldperson-wt3ui 4 месяца назад
Temperamental? Could you put that into context for me? That choice of word might tend to make it seem like she is a Diva, which, she is so far from. Perhaps if you could explain what you mean I would have a better understanding of what you are saying. I know she is very passionate about her music and all that that entails, she is driven in that regard.

@@Oldperson-wt3ui Sorry, that was Google Translate (my English isn't particularly good, so I always have it translated). @@flomalheur7467 Yes, I knew it was probably a translation thing, you had wonderful things to say about her, in the US, temperamental is not a nice thing to be, it is not something she is, so I just thought I would ask because I didn't want the reactor to get the wrong idea about her. To me, this song is a ghost story, sung by a woman who was, in all likelyhood, pushed out of her lover's window - possibly by accident - during a fight. Now she exists in a sort of parallel place - in "the shadows" - where she watches him, and they both relive that fateful moment over and over.

I love her music. And it is not like several good/great songs but she has a lot of diversity but all her music is amazing. Also her lyrics are about not trivial things and open for interpretation. This one in my interpretation is about domestic violence's which ended tragically. She is also very into the song and emotions of song. For sure it is worth to check much more music of this great artist. She has slow and upbeat songs but I would recommend next a song she wrote when was 9 (and finished it a little later): Lucky live in Nidarosdomen (cathedral). Anyway it is hard to go wrong with her music :).

She sure is "life changing", and I write it as (mainly) metalhead (one among many who like her live stuff a lot), used to (and enjoying a lot) heavy sound. Personally, I'm still a bit baffled, puzzled as well as subjugated, by both the beauty and the intensity that can emerge from all her live performances, whatever the genre of the song (her palette is really wide), and whether it is energetic or very soft. She has a very special and very strong way of transmitting her emotions , which literally flow from her, through her entire being. You've already a lot of informations, and recommendations as well. If you intend to really dig more her music, I would add two other suggestions, in different genres than the gorgeous one you've just reacted to: AURORA - Black Water Lilies | SXSW 2016: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-osboayoBjOk.html Aurora - Under the Water (Live on the Honda Stage): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zVGQWw4Ap6o.html Anyway, really nice, even if short, reaction to Aurora, this astonishing and talented norwegian phenomenon.

You should watch the entire concert at Nidarosdomen. A couple of songs in particular are emotional, such as Lucky, and the Murder Song. When she speaks during this concert she does so in Norwegian, but it has English subtitles. At the very beginning, she explains her concert (Christmas) and the acceptance of people who feel sad at Christmas. This will be just the beginning of hearing the wisdom of such a young lady.. Stay with here right up to the present time. You will watch her mature, not just physically, but in her songwriting and performance, particularly her two most recent singles, Your Blood (watch the debut of that song in Beijing, China, and her latest (again, watch the video) The Conflict of the Mind. You may find yourself becoming a member of her "warriors and weirdos."

To hear her amazing vocal range Through the eyes of a child, live at Nidarosdomen is a MUST! Plus the official video for The Seed so you can see her amazing dance to it. She cut her hair when it got long and said the short is the new her and the long is the old her, so typically cute and quirky of her. She taught herself music at age 6 on an old keyboard she found in her parents attic and then the words came at age 11. Runaway was her first song. She's a voice for all those who're suffering including the Earth...she's simply magical and amazing and everything positive you can think of. Love your reaction and hope to see more Aurora reactions.

This was excellent! I can tell right away that you're just the kind of person who will get a LOT out of her artistry....but also her humanity, who she is as a person....she's pretty incredible. I'm like 12 years older than her, but I genuinely look UP to her as inspiration for the kind of person I want to be. As for her music.....one word: Nidarosdomen. Chances are that'll be the #1 thing people request, and for good reason. It's THE Aurora concert. It's def best to do from beginning to end, either all at once...or split up a bit. You'll want to take in every teeny tiny second. It's hands down one of the best live shows I've ever seen....and I wasn't even there lol. AND I've seen Tool and The White Stripes and Smashing Pumpkins live...in person. And the Nidarosdomen Aurora concert is literally up there with those.

I am not aware of any other current artist who can consistently write such achingly beautiful songs about difficult and sensitive issues as Aurora. This was a good place to start and if you choose to progress further, you will see that Aurora has a range of song styles and she even produces different versions of the same song. Also, if you cover more of her work, you will definitely need some tissues when you get to Aurora's majestic performance in the masterpiece Nidarosdomen (Trondheim Cathedral) concert from 2017. Then there is the HAIK documentary/concert (filmed in the forest where Aurora played in her childhood) of 2019, which is pure musical magic. From interviews, you will meet an amazing, quirky personality, who is honest, intelligent, wise, very funny and sometimes risque (you said Aurora looks innocent, prepare for a bit of a shock when you hear her swear). Following Aurora's musical journey is well worth the time investment and many fans have said that Aurora's music and her presentation style has literally changed their lives. PS Here is a teaser for you. This is Aurora at a concert in Amsterdam, bantering with the audience, then delivering an off the cuff acapella version of Nat King Cole's "Nature Boy" ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1-LtCbPUoTM.html). Murder Song. The lyrics are chilling. I'd played it as part of an mp3 collection someone gave me but had it playing in the background without listening to the lyrics. One dark stormy night, at sea, on bed with my headphones on, I listened to the lyrics. I was 68 and enjoy classical, rock, pop, modern jazz, punk, reggae, hiphop, world music and ballad-solo singers such as Frank Sinatra, KD Lang, Dylan etcetera. But this Murder Song? Great reaction guy! Especially for such a simple song. You deserve a subscription. In fact, a lot of subscriptions. But mine won’t be one of them. Sorry. Just want to keep myself out of contact as much as possible. In Norway as a little girl Aurora spent a lot of time in the forest with the animals day and night and has always been special. She was terrified of performing at first but wanted to share her music and thoughts. You can see that at the end of Runaway, Nobel Peace Prize concert. Contrast to Cure For Me, one of her most upbeat songs. But as always, with an important message. It’s a protest against conversion therapy practiced in some countries to “cure” homosexuality. She’s bisexual and regardless of what you think of that you have to respect her courage. I’m hetero and I do. What else can I say? Her songs, especially the videos of The Seed and Queendom are among her best. (Sez me. But I think I’m right.) Enough now. I’ll be watching you.😊

Here is an example from the group: Porcherie live 1989 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FpH0gre8AQw.html in my opinion the best French pop/rock group little known outside the French-speaking world! there is of course a certain similarity with AURORA who is also very committed and who declared "I do what I want, I don't listen to advice and don't care about criticism" and who often shows this during interviews, in her speeches between songs, by her refusal to "write songs to be played on the radio" (she writes for her fans, see the report 'Once AURORA') and some videos of which were censored by her producers. But AURORA has this is unique: independently of the texts of her songs, she is an artist at the level of the best in all areas: emotion, dances, presence on the concert stage, music in all genres of pop/variety, poetry of her texts ...she is the first musician to excel everywhere and in addition she has a unique voice because she learned on her own by listening to nature and her changing voice is very rare, certain particularities still astonish specialists.

Hummmm, you are the first male reactor who had the intellectual ability to understand what this song is about. I am sure by now you know a lot about her. I recommend, River ( it is about male suicide) and The murder song 5,4,3,2,1 It can be interpreted in so many different ways, domestic abuse, a kind lover who is in the middle of a war zone, bombs are falling, communication is blacked out in purpose, his love is wounded and suffering and he ought to use his last ounce of mental power and energy to end the suffering of his lover, they look like two rose petals in the cesspool of people who kill one another and tap their backs claiming they are killing for democracy... or it could be interpreted as euthanizing a loving pet due to old age and suffering . I recommend you to watch the nobel peace prize 2015 concert performance. I think you are a clever person. I hope her music make a difference in how you see the world...

To get to know her quickly you can watch the Haik documentary with English subtitles. the first half serves to get to know her and the second half to see how she affects her fans. And you will see her in her best elements. react to it for views, or by yourself for perspective. the journey is looooong. I hope it never ends.
