Why can't they use modern Abrams tanks? And what is a roman soldier gonna do against it? The tanks can just run laps around the perimeter and turn them into hamburger.

We are talking about some serious PTSD.

Funny, but nowhere near to how the Romans would handle this. They were not mindless zombies (as in the 20.000 WW2 soldiers vs. 2 million Zombies video ;) ) As I see it,this would quickly become a siege situation. (The premise is, that the moderns soldiers MUST keep this little city, and so, the objective for the Romans MUST be to take it (as it is of some sort of strategic value). So: The modern soldiers cannot break out of their surrounded position, as that would leave them with loosing the objective. They are stuck, completely surrounded and their objective demands for them, to protect their objective to the very last man)) Enter Roman siege weapon technology. Trenches getting closer, ballistas and firethrowers set up, we all wait for the evening where the General lowers his sceptre and utters the words "Let it begin". Some Romans would ofcourse be lost to counterbattery tank fire, but basically this is a suicide setup. Those modern soldiers would be wiped out (if they didnt starve or dehydrated into death or submission first) These videos are rather entertaining, but they need more perspective to them. In "vs to vs battles" (where no objective is to be held) why not use the tanks to pave a way for the infantry? Why is everything stationary and 1:1? No moving cavalry, archery support etc? The combined armies of old (and today) was exactly that - combined! Archers, pikemen, cavalry, swordsmen, artillery... I know this is not a strategic game, it's just set up and watch. Still... ... Or perhaps this is just a refresing free time from AI's? 😅
