Which bands would that be? It's such a uniquely Irish, and personal song, that 99% of other bands would have no interest in writing or performing it. Why does RU-vid breed such crass comments?

@@billzer9102 Your not seeing my point either are you. Bands spend their whole career trying to write one song this good. For U2 it’s their opening track, yes I know where they are. But I’m talking about their song writing skills. I saw them in Vancouver in 2017, the roof blew off then too with this track.

There was an event that took place in that stadium in 1916 that is referred to as Bloody Sunday. There was also an event in Derry in the 60’s that was also known as Bloody Sunday. All I’m saying is, that is why this track was their opening track in this stadium. It had huge relevance. If your not Irish your not really going to understand it. I do get your point, U2 have written a shitload of good songs.
@@maritighe5674 I understand! I was in my late teens during the disco era in the latter part of the '70s. It so oversaturated the airwaves that I detested the music for decades thereafter. However, I have recently taken the time to listen to it again, and have a greater appreciation for it. But that's just me. A lot of people still hate it. ; )
Best opening ever for the best band ever! I saw this concert three different locations and each time it started the same way but every time was amazing.

The way Larry concentrate and start immediatly just a few second after the end of the waterboys music is huge ! And the magic of U2 is there for the show
I finally got to see them on this tour at Adelaide Oval a couple of years ago. When Larry kicked his kit into action, anyone standing on North Terrace nearly a kilometre away would have felt the beat rising up their legs. It was an awesome show and well worth the almost 40 year wait.

What the hell are you talking about. This song is about the troubles that took place in Northern Ireland. It focuses on where English paratroops opened fire and killed people who were marching for civil rights. Yes the black and tans shot people attending a match in retaliation for the night of the long knives but that is a whole different matter especially when it took part in 1916 and in which some parts of croke Park are named after the victims. Please check your facts before you post.

Half filled? Saw them in the park in Leeds 80,000 came. Dutch people are the best but al half filled stadium is a bit strong . Why did nobody bother ? You will never see them in Amsterdam again. But God love you and stay safe. ?

P.S we went to Amsterdam on our honeymoon and I love the city but you have to be careful walking near the canals when your pissed and stoned ! That's 28 years ago so forgive me Rob! 😂 paradiso is a small venue not a stadium so my error. When you come to Yorkshire, I will buy you a pint and a good roast dinner. Traveled to Ireland for a two-week excursion with this concert wrapping up the trip. I've been to a lot of concerts and this one ranks high on the list. Absolutely great show and you could feel the energy from the crowd cheering their "hometown" lads. Very cool experience. There are some great vids of this entire show. Imagine being 12 years old and grew up following this band since the 80's...oh how times have changed...and oh how this band has changed...the early songs meant so much during times of radical change...the new kids have no idea....sorry guys...🤘😏
