I agree, only exception to me was the 350 tour and honestly I could hear that they were not as tight musically on that tour, imo. the physical distance was audible.
@@Will21st That’s spot on too. Even with in-ear monitors, technically it shouldn’t make any difference where you are onstage, but it does. I watched the set they did at Bonaroo and they were stripped down, playing close together and playing super tight. As a drummer, I hate when I’m on a large stage and nobody is near me. Maybe it’s just something about the vibe or not being able to see someone’s hands that makes it feel sloppy.
I can't imagine what it would be like to have been growing up with U2 as a "local" band, see them hit it big, and STILL be able to see them in your hometown.
John Provo You would be surprised.Anyone that is a bit uppity bit brash ,a bit arogant will have there detractors in ireland ,the same with conor mcgregor have the country loves him the other including myself thinks he gives the country a bad name.A lot a people don't like bono they believe to be arrogant ,i am not a fan myself but saying that he is not on the same level as conor mcgregor.
@@galoglaich3281 I’ve personally never met an Irish person who doesn’t like Bono but I would agree that mcgregor splits opinion, I admire his success from having so little but I know a lot of people hate his personality
Nearly as cool, is having discovered them as an early teen in the early 80s and then have them provide the soundtrack to the rest of one's life. When I hear one of their songs, such as this one, it conjures up such poignant memories. Their albums are as roadside markers along the road that is my life.
The Edge is a capital 'A' artist. As Rick Beato says, one of the best guitarists ever. Completely changed how a guitar could sound and made it mainstream.
@@redshift8302 maybe you've been listening to the wrong kind of wizardry? I mean The Edge is a wizard himself, in his own great way... it's just that there are so many incredible musicians out there nowadays.. especially in the realms of jazz and prog rock...
@@simpirx I'm just taking ths stance of 'purists' who think he's not got the talent to switch between chords like a virtuoso. They won't agree that the Edge is a good guitarist let alone a wizard.
I was here with My Wonderful Friend . Am from Bristol in England , couldn't not not pass this up . Every penny I paid was worth every penny I paid . When these four planes flew above us , had no idea this was coming up . We were all on a natural high Singing , U2 put us an even better high with these panes with Irish colours in their Flag . Amazing ...
@@ericgibson8796 Wow! Unfortunately I was over seas back then and missed the Tour. We can't go back in time, but this concert made up for it - to a certain extent : )
I went to see them in 2019 "Joshua tree tour " in Auckland new Zealand it was fantastic just seems like yesterday ❤thanks for the upload you made me smile ❤👍
Very very good...
Not "the last great" band, better "one of the last great bands". But in 10 to 15 years ....who can make great concerts? I am very disappointed of the music industry cause of the music they Support! No Sound, no guitars, no drums, no melody.... music sucks since over 20 years
Muse, maybe. Muse really do put on a hell of a show. But I get what you mean. The artists who do more than just stand there shoegazing are dying off!!! As is rock'n'roll in general.
because it was in July, it was light until 10pm or so. Show probably started about 8.30pm when they came on stage, so thats why it was still light. Thanks
Will be interesting to see how they integrate wheelchairs into their stage show in not too distant times. Have seen U2 on many occasions since the Dandelion...they never fail to not surprise me. Still, the brand pays well...play the blues, edge...Jesus!
Hey, Bono. You are not Martin Luther King Can you stop starting that self-euphoric speech before you start the song? It would be great if you guys were doing music silently, why do you do extra things?
Why are these people so excited about a video background which is most likely the western US? U2’s obsession with the US is creepy. Not down with Europeans in 2021.
@@Zetep Yup. I get it. Even back in 87 when I first saw the Joshua Tree tour I always wondered how a bunch of Irish guys could possibly lecture America about our problems. Make your own bed first.
@@joepartipilo2885 oh wow bringing attention to leftist bullshit is such an impressive accomplishment when you are on tour and TV. Such an accomplishment! Of course, nothing these hypocrites ever "bring attention to" requires them to give some of their own fortune to the poor, no does it? Nope. they just use the plight of the poor to preach about how horrible the rest of humanity is meanwhile they stash their hundreds of millions away in their private overseas bank accounts away from the tax man and never ever bother to use any of it for anything other then buying themselves mansions, jet planes, and living their luxury lives. And idiots like you applaud them and praise them the whole time they do it because you like the stupid music
@@timjohnson8820 Tim Johnson, I get that you represent solid greivances that are not isolated to just yourself and which should legitimately be looked at and addressed. I also, imo, think maybe you can be more fact-based and constructive in your communication of the issues. There are some solid points you can refer to for supporting what I think is your point, and there are facts about the band's philanthropy which also legitimately go against the premise of what it sounds like you're railing against. When you are simply insulting the music and fans, you lose credibility against legit problems you're maybe trying to present. To claim the band contributes zero is just not realistic. Instead, you can do the research and present an argument that, regardless of what you personally think of the music or fans, U2 is quite possibly both generous and hypocritical in its support of Irish based causes.
