I would've assumed they listened to click tracks in those, but would never have guessed they have someone (or something) giving them directions for the songs. Makes for a flawless set though, so pretty neat.
@@AllahHuSnackbar Yes, but it also has the con of diminishing the improvisations and the spontaneity of the performance. Although, the end result is incredibly polished, I sometimes feel it lacks something that previous tours had.
@@briantoal8872 Yeah, but now then use them in every track, with backing or not. They use it in Vertigo and Elevation, for instance, which have no backing whatsoever. I'm not knocking it, it's very helpful, but it's made the shows somewhat sterile.
@@briantoal8872 I don't know of any IEM recordings from Larry's mix, they're certainly not the best mix for a public-consumption stand point. However, their timing is perfect, down to the BPM. I'm almost certain the click track wouldn't be present in Bono's or Edge's mixes (100% of the time), which are the most circulated ones. But if you insist, listen to the "all of this" bridge here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9QcW3OZmH-U.html There's the click track in Edge's IEM and of course, they're being mixed live so it's possible that's taken from Larry's own mix. Vertigo might've been a "bad" example, since it's a somewhat straighforward rock song, 12 bars, not needing a complete section break down. In other songs, sucn has Magnificent (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9QcW3OZmH-U.html), every single change: start, chorus, verse, pause and ending, is being dictated to them.
Here it is! My latest upload is the Complete Full Show (!!!) from #U2TheJoshuaTree2017 - the opening night which has better audio and more camera angles than my Chicago show upload (although I'd say the performance isn't quite as good!): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9PvxOID5n0g.html
That click track is much more than just that. It tells them where the verse, chrous, riffs, starts, ends will occur. Quite annoying, but necessary nowadays.
Bono no longer sings, he acts out the song. ‘87 was the time to see them? gvn2fly96 Do not you sing any more? do not you like u2 do not say shit gvn2fly96 the age passes u2 every time better not to mention the guitarist
This tours and albums are for their fans. They have accomplished way more than any other band in the last 40 years. Your comment is insignificant... As far as i am concerned they can keep going until they want.
I'll give them a bit of leeway here. It was opening night for the tour. But there are MUCH better versions of this from the tour. Look for "Soldier Field, Chicago" if you want a good version of this from the Joshua Tree tour. All that being said, thanks for posting this!
