It's all played to slow. I'm going to see them on the 29th of july. But i hope they will play it as on the album. I think That is what most people hope for.
I'm amazed he's still hitting certain notes and singing in the original key. He's 57 for crying out loud. When you don't play or sing everyday you'll slow up at 27, never mind 57. Try and understand that only recorded music is ageless. Live performance isn't. Performers get older.

All the times this was played in the 90s and 00s it never seemed to have the same sound as the album.. this one is nearly spot on. sounds so original. Can't wait to hear it in Croker.

Listen that there are parts of guitar they're not playing ...exactly in the part before the Edge's solo... I expect the guys resolve it in coming next shows.

Tiene mas de 50 años, que esperan que se encime sobre el público? Hay bandas como Oasis donde los vocalistas no se movian del micrófono y el público ponía la fiesta. Los públicos norteamericanos, de todas formas, no tienen fama de ser muy pasionales de todas formas. En Argentina fue una fiesta este tema.
A treat to hear this of course but the performance is so static. Static image on the screen, static Bono, ltd interaction with the audience. Vast stage and stadium... maybe the key element is the crowd and that needs to be experienced first hand. A bright Dublin evening in Croker will be unforgiving I suspect.
A dome filled with lunatic obsessives for tour debuts is different to daylight euro stadia in July mate. I want the best for them like everyone. The above shows there's not really much going on.
Totally agree about the RHMT comments it's lifeless without the guitar parts. I also think they should have started with tracks off Boy followed by October, War, The Unforgettable fire and then finished with The Joshua Tree to end the show. Please replace Elevation with Bad.. this song should be in the show. I don't want to hear Elevation or Beautiful Day I've heard them Enough.. I don't think they fit in with the show .
Andrew Williams bad and 40 both should been in there. I'm going to their Philly show. but this show seems lifeless. and I havent missed a tour since the tree tour in 87 at JFK in Philly. but now I'm having doubts.
ukslag I agree they should both be in the show.. I go to every tour as well. Hopefully they will be in fine form when they get to London and play some stuff off Boy.
first night. hopefully just testing the water with some arrangements and the setlist. always ranks me when bad isn't in a u2 setlist. luckily seeing them in croker in july so we'll probably get the killer show out of the whole tour.
Some say Bono is technically a better singer now than he was back in the day. That could well be true....but he doesnt have the same soul in his voice. So many SHOUTY moments on stage these days. Its like Miss Sarajevo, that should be delivered with a soft voice...but its like he is talking his way thro it
gman I know his voice isn't as powerful as it once was. I'm wondering if he is just holding back to save his voice for the tour. He did that for the IE tour.
Who knows David. BUT...i can say, i have noticed this "shouty" element creeping into his singing since the turn of the millenium. Probably explains why the majority of live performances i tend to watch...are pre 2000.
gman it might be difficult to maintain those middle ranges. His voice does crack when he's singing those. I did notice that after POPMART tour his voice was much different. I've heard rumors he had theist surgery in the late 90's.
