This is the song that separates the true U2 fans from the newbie’s and Las Vegas Lookie loos. The true U2 fans keep singing, while the others cheer thinking the song is over, when the truth is the song is now… yours to sing.

My first U2 concert I ever went to I was totally blown away by the use of 40 to end the concert. It was such a moving experience to hear everyone sing it even as we left the building. People either sang the song or were walking silently. When a rock band and it’s music so emotionally impacts it’s fans and listeners they have truly transcended music

There's something so special about "40" live and closing the show. The first time I experienced "40" was in 1987 at the Omni in Atlanta. To be one with everyone else singing it with all our hearts and continuing to sing it as we left the building out into the parking lot is an experience that you gotta have in order to truly understand it's power and the power of U2. Definitely a high point in my life. "40" will always be very special to me because of that. Thank you for sharing this and thank you U2.

I saw them close the Anaheim show in 2005 with 40. It was the show immediately before a gravely ill John Paul II passed and the band had been paying tribute to the Holy Father all evening. Tears when they closed with this. And then disbelief and disheartenment when the bandwagon, fair-weather,, let's be seen at the show "fans" actually booed when they realized U2 would not be returning to the stage.

I, like you have been a fan for decades and have seen U2 live now 6 times. I was at first skeptical about Bram drumming with the band and was not sure about going to see the show. I of course changed my mind and went to see the concert on December 16, my birthday and the supposed last concert of the residency. Even though I travelled from Canada and paid an astronomical amount, it was so worth it that I probably will never see another U2 show again… except if they do one again at Slane Castle. I’m sorry that you were not able to witness the magic. However the RU-vid footage is very good at conveying the essence of that experience. Blessings to you, the band and the universe. I've been a life time U2 fan... Its sad when you see singers that can't do it anymore & let the band down.... Speaking and not singing. Only Americans would pay for this trash😢😢😢
