My brother just passed away two days ago with brain cancer. We saw U2 three times together, just some of the lifetime of memories together. I miss him so much, and dedicate this to him. His light will shine brightly for all eternity.

This was the free album Apple gave to all Mac users, for which they got an unbelievable amount of abuse. It’s a fantastic album, this song is one of U2's best. This is a phenomenal band and they’ve been doing since the 70s.

@@mysteryman3054 well people didn’t necessarily hate the music but they hated that Apple put it on everyone’s devices without their permission and then it just became a meme, so yeah they got a lot of hate. Also not all people are into this kind of music and you can bet that a lot of them didn’t even bother to listen to the album in the first place.

This song is for my Big Sister. Thank you U2.. I have not cried since I lost my big sister, from leaukimia my best friend, my rock, when I was 10 and she was one month from her 12th birthday. She passed in my mum's arms at home, waiting for an ambulance, no morphine no pain killers, she never complained. For this song to bring tears to my eye's shows it has a special meaning. My Mom took me to see U2 for the very first time back in 1985. I just lost her in October after a battle with Altzheimers, and lost my Dad only 5 weeks later. My parents always encouraged me to follow my dreams, whether it be traveling to Ireland or meeting friends across the US at concerts and getting to meet U2. I lost interest in the band after I became a busy Mom, but the funny thing is, I heard this song in a hair salon one day while waiting for Mom to get her hair done and the years came rushing back. Thank you Mom and Dad, I love and miss you. Thank you U2 for being the soundtrack of my youth, and now a part of my adulthood too... ❤

Lost my father years ago due to Cancer but my mother to Altzheimers. That disease sucks out loud. It is the worst. No one can understand to dealing with it, without personal experience. I'm glad U2 helped you bring back some good memories.

That "someone"was my mom. I listened to this in my ears while my mom was in the hospital. She was nearing her final days. When she crossed over ...her smile ignited a light that will never go out. When I bought the iPhone 6, I was like why are you giving away this album for free? I don't need it. But once in a while listening to other songs, the songs from this album would play. And after 1 and a half year, I realised I was wrong. This is one of the best albums I have ever heard. Thanks U2.

I can honestly say that this song changed my life. I've always been a huge music fan. My dad is a musician, my grandfather is a musician. So many people in my life were amazing artists! But this song. It came on the radio when I was driving home after sending off my brother who was going away for military training. It just spoke to me. It touched my soul. My dad has been a fan of U2 since he was really young... he even's got a tattoo. And I have always thought that U2 is a really successful band, with a big fanbase. But a few weeks ago, I found out about the reason of why my dad cries when he listens "original of the species", it's a beautiful song, and he gets emotional when he hears it because it reminds him about me... so I listened the song again and it took a new meaning for me. Now I'm checking their other songs, like I still haven't found what I looking for and Bad, and they're really profound and beautiful. I'm finally understanding why they are a band that's so big and important, they don't release commercial music, they're profound and special.

I had thought about my ex when I listened this song before, but now my mom has leukemia and that "someone" completely changed to her. This change is indecated of my life goes on with "someone" who can't always be. And it gave me a teathing that I should cherish someone always while there is a light. Back in 2000s something I turned out to wake up with this album in my iPod and IPhone (back in the days i used to have an iPhone). At that time and space it was the best moment to listen to this song, even know, I don't take it as a marketing stunt, I take it as a nudge to go and live the most I can. I was going through some very dark times back then, and I started listening to this song that turned up in my library randomly and it gave me back my wings. U2 will forever be magically, I grew up with their music, as my dad is a huge fan. And listening to this song made me convinced to protect that light and have it never go out.

They are just a bunch of dumb people who are too lazy to switch off automatic downloads. Surely the first thing you do is switch off automatic downloads as soon as you get a new phone. If you don't then you should expect to receive everything and anything. Beyoncé did the same thing but with a few songs rather than a full album beforehand and it was a success for her as well. The music business is broken. Nowadays there's singers and bands doing the same thing every week

The greatest rock band of all time by a county mile 45 years together and still as relevant as always This band saved my life in the 90s with their best album Achtung baby I'd hit rock bottom after an awful experience. Their lyrics are sublime and the emotions they bring with them send tingles through my body. They take me places I never knew existed & were the backdrop to my 20s and are still at 52 Live they are on another planet 🔥

Aye Gavin! U2 was my childhood inspiration, the only band whose compilation CD I played while asleep, so I could wake up with Where streets have no name and similar songs. Fan since Unforgettable Fire. Alas had a huge gap of not following them since 1998, thinking they gave it all with POP. Now I'm seeing how many beautiful albums and songs I have missed. It's never too late, but I feel sad I have let down my band from childhood that I loved to the dearest.

Mac users dont usually maintain song in music app, but U2 album was free to all ios devices. Memories from 2015 when I started working. All the way to office, this was my companion. ❤️❤️

this is my song (as well as "into the mystic" by Van the Man Morrison) after saying goodbye to my old job in public office focused on the welfare sector for the elderly and disabled for two and a half years (the latter, i used to manage it in my state and we started it from scratch) a few days ago in Mexico. lots of colleagues and true friends made in there. we went through a lot of stuff during this pandemic together. we were the only ones that never closed doors during this time and still attending the population. but don't worry, i wasn't fired, nor i hadn't acquired the virus during that time, despite being with people all day long during that time. i was reassigned to another position. yesterday was my first day on the beginning of chapter two in public service in another sector, so i wanted to vent it out the amount of emotions i've had during this time. that job and office was the best school I've ever attended after finishing my masters degree. a different perspective that i was accustomed after years in academic research. theory put into practice. sometimes working on sundays and holidays, sometimes i saw the sunrise in that office printing and packing money orders adressed to the elderly and the disabled all across my state. it's been a privilege to be a protagonist by implementing the welfare state in this country, and in this time and age i am deeply and humbly thankful for the opportunity, responsibilities and experience acquired in there. When I first heard this song it sparked something in me. I have scars from depression and because the first time I fell in love I only experienced a bit of the light of love. Most of it was darkness and heartbreak. I don't have depression anymore and I've gotten over that person. I've done most of my healing myself but I still have a bit to go. I can't explain it but this song reminds me of someone that I'm going to love. I've always wanted that stable love and even though I didn't get it the first time I have this indescribable feeling in my soul that it's coming soon. I can't explain it

U2 is my oldest love in music. Bono's voice, Edge's great sound and guitar playing and the solid and original spine of the band with Larry and Adam who are always forgotten...
