In this plugin Walkthrough I'm looking at the LittleLabs VOG plugin, which is a Universal Audio plugin for UAD cards. The plugin is very well modeled after the original hardware version of the VOG.
The VOG is a bass resonance tool, bringing out a certain bass-frequency without making things sound too muddy...
It captures the tonal qualities and character of the original hardware, including the harmonic distortion caused by it's components.
In this video I'm doing a complete walkthrough.

I wanted get Little Labs Voice of god but I cannot afford an Apollo or satellite. Wish they had a Native version😢 Nothing besides Waves Rbass can compete with the UAD VOG unfortunately........☹ (Also tried Boz Digital Labs Bark of Dog - Not Even Close )

Hi Stan, Yeah I had seen that guy actually.. He also has a post about it on his site. I don't agree with him though. And attacking UA for a plugin that they have modelled after a hardware unit? And saying he lost his 200 bucks? I mean, he could have just used the 14 day free of charge tryout and see if he liked it or not.. :) I personally actually kinda like the VOG, since it's really quick to set up and barely uses any DSP of the card..

How is this different from simply making a bump with an EQ, and cutting with a steep slope below a given frequency? I'd really like someone to answer that. What is this costly plugin doing that an EQ or filter can't?

People use UAD for the "Analog" sound. If you put on a pro-Q 3 there isn't much sonic difference (although some). If you put a UAD Cambridge EQ, Pultec, API, etc... and not even change the settings at all the sound will be coloured heavily from the software.

Ask Jonathan Little who designed the hardware. It does not sound the same as any old resonant filter or EQ. Most of us tried it for ourselves and liked what we heard. If you can get results you are happy with without it, more power to you.
