Oxide is extremely good. I overlooked it for so many years because of limited controls and the price. It adds glue and dimension that sounds and feels way more real than competition has to offer.
I agree. Without properly gain staging we really aren't getting an accurate comparison and we, by nature automatically perceive louder to be better so that pretty much makes the comparison null.
i hate ilok but the uad sale right now is pretty tempting ...unfortunately the ampex isn't available native ...do you think the studer and oxide are doing the job on masterbus?....right now i use softube tape or slate digital tape machine
studer has a more bass grip but the ampex kill that its really a can opener and you can match the bass of the studer by changing the head type and eq ampex its more of a complete tape for me no other
Minus the commented level changes (I manually did level matching with phones volume to get close)... what I hear is Ampex and Oxide are more saturated across the range, Studer is def more muted to me, which has its place too, just less mid highs to highs. I like Oxide overall, but have to say that Ampex is right there and wins a few over Oxide too. How about UA just rocks! :)
Stereo bus, drum bus, and bass I would choose the studer, maybe oxide. For the guitar I would choose ATR, maybe oxide, depends on what it needs to do in the song
@@rollingtones1298 kind of a bullshit answer from the channel. What’s the real answer? If it’s that you forgot or didn’t think to gain match the machines then say so - thats what a Pro would do. You just come off sounding like an amateur with that answer. No like, no sub.
Hey do I have to have a UAD interface in order to use the UAD ATR 102 plug in? I was trying to buy the plug in but it says I need a UAD-2 Device in order to get it. Is there no way I can just get it and use it with my setup?
It would have to be either a interface or use an UAD satellite. Which is basically just their DSP computer than runs there plug ins. Unfortunately you need one or the other!
@@rollingtones1298 Also, If I get a UAD interface, that alone allows me to use the UAD ATR 102 plug in inside of protools? I really don't want to use their console on the computer as I'm very familiar with protools
@@ShellyBBird yep they both allow you to use it inside pro tools or any DAW. They just run off of their own DSP chips, not installed on your actual computer.
The opening full band section would've had more "impact" to the listener had the performance been edited. The kick and guitars are way off from each other. Just my $.02. Cheers
