What a beautiful video. I lived for 6 years in Saudi and played in the desert often...I truly miss the desert. Hope to return some day and enjoy my motocross again
Hey Bob, Ive just moved to Saudi and looking to ride. What would you say is the best choice, 250 450? 2or4 stroke? Or just personal pref? Do you need paddle tyres?
James Webster James, OK. First thing to bear in mind is that I've been away from Saudi for 10 years so the advice I give may be a bit out of date. Firstly from what I hear the MX scene in Saudi is not what it once was. We used to have tracks in both Riyadh and Dhahran. The track at Dhahran is long gone. And the one in Riyadh, which was world class BTW, is now blocked off and almost impossible to get to. Check out my profile photo for the kind of jumps that were there :-). If you are serious about racing I still have some contacts in KSA who may know of where to race now. Secondly if you want to just blast through the desert I had great fun ripping up the dunes most weekends on a Honda CR250. I abused the hell out of that bike and it kept coming back for more. The other makes just didn't last. Particularly KTMs but as I maybe different now but...well Honda's are hard to beat. However a lot of your decisions are based upon the support you can get. Getting 2 stroke oil was never straight forward but in saying that if you blow up your complicated 4 stroke engine forget about getting much support in Saudi. If you can handle the power go with the bigger engines as the smaller bikes do struggle if you are blasting about in the dunes. Paddle tyres aren't necessary but damn good fun :-) more for the odd occasion than every time you go into the dunes. Not sure how much experience you have with riding in the desert but best not to do it alone and ALWAYS make sure you can stop within the distance you can see. That piece of advice saved my life one day - seriously it really did. If you want more info then PM me. Good luck
Great video. Too bad that when i was in Dubai i almost did not ride. And i do enduro championships for some years in my country as long as a ISDE also over here. But now i am in Portugal again, and riding :) Keep up the videos and good riding to all ;)
i checked my poop today, and found out that i don't shit money, so i'll stick to forests for some time...maybe in a few years, it's always been a dream for me to rip the dunes...
Actually the best time to visit Liwa, United Arab Emirates is the first 10 days of a new year cuz thats when the competition starts and everyone will be there camping. You don't have to pay just get you dirt bike and yourself and if you are gonna camp then everything you need to camp and your set.😊😅(Sorry if I wrote a lot) I'm 12 and learning how to drive a dirt bike just for Liwa. AND I AM REALLY REALLY EXCITED FOR LIWA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i fucking love off road of course tracks are awesome too but something about finding a great line to ride with friends a camp fire and some beers and of course chicks man thats the fucking life every year we travel to ocotillo wells and stay there for 5 days and every time we do it only gets better and better cheer to those who ride
