Detroit Big Three automaker Stellantis on Tuesday announced more layoffs at two Michigan facilities just after the United Auto Workers union declared a strike at the company’s largest plant.
My step dad a Korean Vietnam veteran USMC . wouldn't let his kids park a foreign vechicle on his property no way I always have had UAW Vechicles ! Not even the driveway park down the street !!!
Well they can do like they did in 2009 file chapter 11 and restructure closing 3600 dealerships and getting rid of 20,000 employees. They should be glad they have a job the company didn't have to hire these people in the first place. Who runs the company anyway the UAW or the Automakers. Most are making 32.00 an hour that's pretty good money for most don't even have a college degree. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Baseball hot dogs apple pie and Chevrolet a commercial when young Buy AMERICAN AUTOMOBILES i do got 8 all made by UAW some new some Antique automobiles GM And ford had one Mopar and 1 international carryall never forign i live in America and buy AMERICAN AUTOMOBILES!!!!
Stay strong UAW siblings! You are fighting for all of us! Solidarity from an AFSCME sister! And we need to support the non-union workers who want to organize their workplaces and to support the unions in other countries who are fighting for the same things we are, often against the same companies. International working class solidarity against corporate greed and the race to the bottom! UAW is showing the way! ❤✊🏼👏🏻🌎
Exactly wages were found to make up only 4-5% of the total cost of vehicle so gm is just making a cash cow and won’t pay up. These raises were estimated to raise that by about 2% that’s nothing
People think that these corporations and CEO'S care about them because they stay in line and are willing to accept 17.00 an hour and be a good bootlicker this whole ship is goin down we will ALL have to compete with foreign markets and that means we will all be working for 5.00 an hour! LET'S GO UAW !!!
Yes because fighting for fair and living wages is totally the same as a cult. America used to be built on unions supported by president Theodore Roosevelt, which led to greatest boom of American consumer power. Ronald Reagan reversed all his efforts, now the American public could barely afford basic necessities and houses are a dream for most. It’s the American workers vs the companies, just like the our first guilded age. Don’t let media (owned by companies) brainwash you to believe otherwise. When 1 union succeeds, we all succeed.
No, workers in the United States of America have the right to strike without being retaliated against or fired. They can be replaced but must be recalled to their job when their replacement quits or is fired.
You might as well expand it, they’re going to get laid off anyhow. The competition is Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi. They keep making cars and trucks. You’re no longer in the news, the Israeli Hamas issue as taken centerstage
@@thevinceberry Are you telling me they’re not competitors? I think what you’re telling me is you don’t like those two brands. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, I remember when I was working for a Chevrolet dealer as a service manager, the only vehicle you could ever sell me would be GM. Times have changed, between the big three and the unions they gave up a huge portion of the automotive sales in the US and it’s not going to get any better. Currently in my business we have one Chevrolet equinox, one Subaru, two Toyotas hybrid one Nissan pick up truck and a Mitsubishi EV. All of them get taken care of properly and not beat to death. Everyone of them has been an excellent vehicle for our use . The one that has been back to the car dealership five times for the same exhaust rattle is the Chevrolet. The exhaust was initially misaligned from the factory, “go figure“ and the rest of them just go back for service when due. Remember when I said I wouldn’t buy anything but a GM. I’ve owned between 30 and 35 new Chevrolet and GM vehicle’s over the past decades.
Even if they get a good contract now the companies will start moving production to Mexico and China and Canada and gradually close some of these old car plants.
@@MUCKFOOT399what does he make? CEO is in charge of whole production, not just assembly line. UAW is a burden, destroying the auto industry, making it not competitive with other countries cars - from Germany to China….so he’s a President of what? 400K people destroying American economy?!? Good luck for these $$$
46% increase in pay. 4 day work week, 4 more personal paid days off, a larger profit sharing check, and $10,000 signing bonus. Yup, that autta do it for this contract
I'm more than certain this won't go well with some. I live in Michigan and have family members who work for the big 3. Everyone is upset because of the large profits of the ceo's. Don't you get a substantial profit sharing check at the beginning of the year? You want an increase in your pay, a 4-day work week, more ppd's an increase your benefits, and in your retirement, You already have top-tier health ins, ( that would cost most Americans at least $1,000 a month), special discounts for vehicle purchases, and other perks. Do you think for a minute what you're asking for will come out of the ceo's pockets? Nope, they'll pass the cost off to the consumer. Our $70, 000 vehicles will soon cost $80,000. If the workers at the oil companies took on your idea of being paid based on their companies profits, they'd be getting $1,000 an hr.
The "BIG" 3 need to say goodbye to the uaw forever.. See how fain likes that. Good luck to him trying to get non union plants to become union workers... Many union workers hate this guy right now... Lol.
No one hates him, if you think us members hate the union president more than they hate their work environment and requirements... It just show how out the loop you are. If members are upset, they're upset it isn't a total shutdown situation.
Yea well GM your workers are struggling with the pay . Some have to decide on food rather than paying a bill! Get it together ! Have the empathy for your real workers the ones striking !
And the company can VERY MUCH afford it! Don’t let them pull the wool over your eyes they cried then turned around and gave wall street another 800million the very next day! 😂 maybe we shouldn’t be paying our CEO’s 10-20x more than the foreign automakers 😳
Guess what, it won't come out of their pay. The $10,000 to $15,000 profit sharing along with your agreement to "show up to work" (SIGNING BONUSES) along with your 20-30 days of paid days off a year Will be passed along to new vehicle purchasers. BTW, I'm sure you'll be looking for the CHEAPEST NON UNION made products Walmart has to offer! I'll drive an KIA, a vehicle with a 10 year 10,000 mile warranty. Not a AMERICAN UNION MADE $70,000 vehicle
@@pay-tray-it4897fun fact the current pay only makes up for 4-5% of the total vehicle they aren’t that price due to pay like they try to make it sound they costs that much because they love padding their pockets even with the huge raises might only make up 6-7% tops
@fixedguitar47 so my I initial though was correct about you guys. How is walking a picket line making a fraction of what you normally do fun?? You guys are making 32-ish dollars an hour from what your members are posting. 32 dollars an hour is really good money where I live at and you greedy fuckers want more? Have fun freezing in a month or so.😂
If GM does place weight scales at each gate and charge workers by the pound----25 pounds overweight ----lose 3 dollars per hour I think its wrong. It may help the worker's health but its too much---baby steps
Most of the new hires in my plant are under 25 and in shape. Have to realize that only 2 out of 10 ever make it to full scale pay Ignorant comment by a easily manipulated keyboard warrior
I remember many years ago teamsters and UPS had a big big Teamsters 1D only problem with a dead UPS drivers took them almost 7 years to win as much money back as what they lost see how the UAW does
We have been suffering ever since we helped you OUT! NEARLY 20 YRS.ago. And you can barely stand 40 days. The company and "YOUR FAMILIES" have benefited and profited from UAW sacrices and labor. NO DENYING! HONORABLY speaking you OWE the UAW NOW. And no contract extension!!(4.5)!!
It would be great if the unions from Yellow and Bethlehem steel would join. See how long these current American icon companies can last after these massive deals limit their finances before the coming recession.
Is one of the demands..Pay workers for 5 days even if they only work 4 ? Is this correct ? Please reply only if you know for sure. If correct, where have good work ethics gone ? 😮😮
@williamoneal2763 that was just something thrown out there for bargaining. We weren't planning on getting it just something to drop to say we lost something to get something we actually wanted
@williamoneal2763 I haven't found 1 person that actually wanted that. A five 8 hrs week whats that even. Most of us are 10 to 12 hrs 6 to 7 days a week every week. I haven't had less that 50 hrs in 8 yrs
@williamoneal2763 let this be clear we are not lazy. When we asked for work life balance. It's cause we work 60 70 hr weeks week after week 40 to 50 hr would be great but never see it. Last if you think our work is easy, I bet you wouldn't last a week
@williamoneal2763 I want to see retirement health care to be honest we destroy our bodies least they can do is cover us in retirement. If they won't give back pensions I want 401k to be based on all hours worked. They wanna work us like dogs, they should cover all hours not just 40
More and more American labor workers are getting lazy and incompetent. Foreign made cars are now much better than US made cars! The higher wages (of most union members) goes to union dues (union org and union leaders who have inflated salaries). There are too many lazy and incompetent union members (& too many supervisors) even with government union workers; I would estimate, more than 40%. Union members get pay raises based on seniority, not on productivity. Replace them with foreign workers; the economy will be better in the long run!
