Heyyy! I wanted to ask what was the application process like for applying to UBC? I'm thinking of coming to UBC and as I enter my grade 12 year in September, I'm kind of nervous that I won't get in, or that I even have a chance. I also want to be a science student so what was your overall average if you don't mind sharing 😅Love the tour BTW this campus looks absolutely beautiful. :D
Hi thanks so much for commenting! The application process wasn't too crazy but def was a bit more work compared to other universities as they do have a personal profile that you need to fill out and write (basically paragraphs/mini essay answering some questions they give you, they also use this to find out about any clubs, athletics, or volunteering you've done). In terms of my average, it was probably like low 90s, but there's definitely a big range that also depends on what faculty you apply for. I wish you good luck, and you should totally try and apply!
Hi, I was wondering what the process for transerring to UBC would look like? I am currently in first year at UofA for bachelors in science and I was wondering what transferrring there would look like? Or if they were any forums to ask students any questions?
I had a question regarding the textbooks at UBC. So I will be starting my UBC journey soon and like saw the estimated prices of the textbooks and they are a bit pricey also because I am doing a double major. Hence wanted to know if a student can like get a hand me down textbook from people and if so then from where?
Great question! honestly, unless a textbook is considered absolutely required for a course, lots of courses don't actually use their textbook all that much (even if it says strongly recommended). I believe there are a few facebook forums for second hand books, though I would also recommend sites like z-library to see if your textbook is on there for free!
Theres quite a selection offered Im pretty sure, you can do some of your own research with this link students.ubc.ca/enrolment/finances/awards-scholarships-bursaries most of these are for students already in UBC I believe, if you're looking for scholarships as a high school student going to UBC there's a lot out there offered by organizations and companies!
yup, I believe there are two! youve got the Birdcoop and the ARC Fitness Centre. I think in terms of membership you only need to get one pass, but the membership applies to both gyms so you get to pick which you want to go to!
