I honestly don't think the Sentinal mechanic looks that complicated. You just find Sentinals you like, use them till they wear out and then mash them together with other ones. Since you can respec the skill tree as much as you want you can also just throw points in without stressing about it and then change them later if you want.
Yeah I didn't find hard to follow Chris explanation. Its more menacing when you realized its another layer of league mechanic on top of all that we already have, with new crafting itens and "new" system all included, but that should be expected of PoE leagues at this point.
Best value of the sentinel is to combine them with eldrich alter buff (especially for bosses). Pair them when you get alters with good benefits like chances to drop currency is doubled, drop 18 additional currency, unique items and etc. Will be a good boon to the league start strategies, assuming they interact with each other.
Soon we shall have the Bonsai update, where you'll pick ski-abilities as your bonsai tree grows from the blood of your enemies. Will you let your tree grow wildly in all directions, or clip it down to focus in one area Exile?
seem like a good concept not gonna lie but might be with some Vaal stuff which using Blood or Soul to grow and then you have to "Shape" it Damn, that could be so cool
@@Zain-IX I'd like GGG to get a grip on what "rewarding" means. If I have to fight a boss that they proclaim is "way harder than you're used to" then there should be rewards commensurate to the amount of effort I've put in. Why would I spend fifteen minutes fighting a map boss for one divine when I can clear a deli map with certain sextant mods and get 20+ in fifteen minutes.
Since the meta wont be changing much it would be awesome to see a Top builds from 3.17 to league start (and seconds build) in 3.18. Or maybe you could give us some more league starter so we have more options!
I spent $340 last league on cosmetics now I have to spend $500 this league lol. Damn these cosmetics are great. I love the company I'll happily support it. The only f2p game that's not p2w
New Chris is a handsome dude. He's crafted himself into a highly respected, successful man. Is now even a role model for physical health improvement for us nerds, top bloke I say.
Does not look complicated at all imo. Have people forgotten what complexity in PoE actually looks like? I'm more interested in how hard the new rares are gonna be with the archnemesis mods and if it's gonna feel impactful, loot wise. This is gonna be a perfect league for me who barely played the last one. The leaguemechanic itself looks fun and non-intrusive. See pack - click button - get more loot. I think people are missunderstanding how often you have to replace the sentinels.
@@a_pet_rock not really cause the crafting would be random most of the time so will it be really be worth stocking depleted sentinels just to have a random chance to target a specific mod? synthesis crafting on the other hand have specific break points in order to target mods that's why it became so complicated cause it's a formula not a rng enhancer
@@benja9029 Synthesis had its fair share of rng since it needed to roll the right mods for your desired outcome. Plus, it sounds like sentinel crafting has the exact same breakpoints as synthesis crafting, they just won't get datamined (hopefully).
@@Rrezz that means that you can't have 5 stolen bombardiers ? But I guess that HH will be trash. What's the point of stealing something like vampiric ?
@@MrPrankmastergeneral even worse, there are some mods that can break your build, like bone breaker which makes you cannot crit anymore (but hits cannot be evaded), if you're a coc build then... HH is worthless
WAIT. If this new "skill tree" is able to be planned out, I wonder if there's character planning in game now? I wonder if that's why they aren't doing character balance? They've already announced that they're announcing more QOL, I wonder if one of those is importing character plans.
I think it was a really really good idea to replace the old rare monster mods with new ones in the way they did it. They let us play one full League of those mods, get to know them, get to combine them and work out strategies and counters. So now we can recognice them very fast when they appear.
the huge changes to monster mods serves as a rebalance for headhunter and similar items as well also, i wonder if you can take a depleted unique sentinel to the sacrifice altar in atzoatl and effectively trade it for a brand new unique sentinel
It's likely it just won't work on the altar of sacrifice. But you never know, GGG "forgets" things sometimes. Also, consider the unique vendor recipe... maybe that'll work? :P
The sentinels drop corrupted already so there won't be the option to vaal/double corrupt them. I'm assuming that the unique vendor recipe won't work either but I can see that being a niche thing that is forgotten about at release and then fixed on the first hotfix after
Some of it I like, some is meh... But I really wish they buffed non meta builds. I only play Minions and didnt want to do skelly's again for a 3rd time.
Oh hey, POE is moving more toward not having Zoom Zoom be the only meta. Don't get me wrong, its still the Meta, but at least they are trying to change it up. More skill cap content and less gear check content is always better.
While the league really looks cool, and brings some great changes to the game, I'm a bit dissapointed we didn't get any rebalance to skills, or even new skillgems. Opening the patch notes each league was like opening a new type of cookie jar. You never knew what to expect, and a cookie that taste awful before, may now taste really really great.
This leage seems very poggers. I am more excited about the atlas changes though. One other thing which was not highlighted enough or not talke much about is the item fusion currencies, which to me seems pretty broken.
15:55 yesssssssssssssssssssss BTW hah. i did love that fact and it is one of the sole reasons ablong with no major character power balancing that im going ot try and league start and enjoy week 1 mapping. i can do so much yet potentaily still never get bored i just hope it all plays out smoothly in the end but fuck it im actualy back to beta test again KEK
Man they really just fixed and added a lot of good things. Like no insane, huge stuff, but just through and through consistent shit. Well for huge we got uber shit, so i guess its huge anyways. But i really just enjoy the amount of incremental fixing, adding and expanding.
What does this add to the game though? I know this isn’t really a complete expansion, but I can completely see just running through the game without ever interacting with the league mechanic, again. Honestly, that’s fine, I’m happy, it adds an optional layer to the game, cool. Can’t wait to start grinding.
You're in a highly juiced map, you spot a monster frozen in essence. As you approach you see that it is a scary monster type, and as you mouseover it, you see 9 essences stuck in it. And then you look at the archnem mods and it has the nastiest possible 4 combo. What do you do? Personally I'm torn between "walk around it carefully and never look back" or "instantly poop my pants".
@@lootmaster1337 Ah yes, this is the one where you try a couple times then decide it's too hard, but you can't clear the rest of the map because the essence monster won't let you ;)
Looks overcomplicated with another system on top of the systems and another tree on top of all the trees. Upd. OK, i finished watching and the number of mechanics is INSANE, how tf does a new player not gets lost for weeks in this...
@Zizaran - For Gauntlet, will you be able to force a given sentinel or sentinel combination to be always active? And I wonder if there would be an interesting one to do that with.
side note though i think as we learn about endgame in the league for t16 mapping the "200% more chance of favored maps" thing will actualy become noob bait proabably cause of some PHD level math someone will do about map equity hahaha. buuuuuuuut its DOES look kinda fun for people like me that only have maybe 2 of the voidstones and only 5-6 of the favorite slots unlock by the end of 3 months. itll be wild but mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn they really did learn from 3.15............. why make players worse when you can just make every thing and its magic monster mother SCARY AS FUCK hahahahaa CANT WAIT OT PLAY A SUPER SC BUILD AND GO FULL SC META MODE FOR ONCE! dont know what all ill enjoy but i already can tell that my maps wil lbe juicey and even if i stay in yellow maps till lv 95 i will have more fun and more self aquired goals thne ever before even in sc trade cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers
hypeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!~!!!! new uber bosses is WILD BUT THE NO MAJOR CHARACTER POWER CHANGES IS INSANE. this. that right there is going to bring me back because i loved 3.17 and learned a new build but didnt league start till month 2. all these good passive changes is GREAT soooooooo everything starting the same YESSSSSSSS AND ALL THE OTHER CHANCES FOR THME TO GET A TON OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA SO LETS GOOOOOOO! i can finaly play EA elementalist at leageu start with balors walk through and the massiuve work i did enjoying and min/maxing EA Champ in sc last league! no major nerfs means i actualy have a chance to truly enjoy a pure meta build and motivate myself to PUSH HARD on my days off to level a new character without burning out cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
@@hhaavvvvii still maybe a qol feature could be autoactivate the pandemonium one when x amount of mobs are on screen apex one on map boss stalker one when u activate a quicksilver flask etc
Realistically, GGG is just like “fuck ever getting new players to play this game, we will just confuse the players who have been playing for a decade”.
i just wish this game add more options for multiplayer ...seriously a live server game that cant be play offline but no one plays coop ....what's the point of being online than, and no I'm not new , I'm just sick of creating new characters over and over on every new league , repeat the same process ,pass to the same areas ...and always alone and not a single challenge ...i really want some type of raid boss where we need mechanics that require team effort
Judging by what was shown in the livestream. I got more excited for the Atlas endgame improvements then the Sentinel League. I think this is a league I will skip
It's only really complicated if you want it to be. Essentially you find a bunch of sentinels, look at their stats, and equip one that looks good, when it's depleted you put it in storage for a while. When you get a small collection of depleted sentinels, you look for any that are similar or may combine decently, and you combine them, and you equip ones that look good. The sentinel passive tree is essentially just a passive tree where some nodes take multiple points to activate, and can be respec'ed freely at any time, so it's easy to experiment and not get locked in, so honestly don't think too much about the tree. The league doesn't really look complicated, but it has complexity. Those who wish to will likely find ways to maximize the mechanic, but for the most part it's just up to 3 usable, customizable ways to buff enemies and make them give better rewards. If the depleting sounds bad, think of them as smaller area, larger effect Sextants, which also have usages over time.
turn your brain off and go currency = good, scarabs = good, item quantity = good for sentinel mods haha don't care about min maxing and it will make things simpler
Not nerfing Omniscience and alternatively not making Ashes of the Stars rarer basically ruins all the new league hype for me. 61% of all builds playing the very same item is extremely boring and +attribute gear is the only thing people care about. I hate when there are no new skills or build changes, but keeping the same meta I hate much more. Only my opinion, but when every streamer plays Omniscience and nothing else, I don't wanna see nor play the game anymore. We'll see If the new endgame makes me last longer than two weeks ...
I’m mostly worried about how difficult are we talking? if it’s a thousand times harder that’s dumb. if health is only tripled that’s fine. most bosses get killed in 30 seconds. some instantly with meme builds. this is going to be giving us a lot of content.
Then ignore the league mechanic altogether. Honestly it's fine you ignore it. It's just a game after all. Enjoy it the way you like it - keep it simple. I plan to ignore the league mechanic until I hit maps lol I've been doing that since heist haha
@@anthonybailey7145 it’s entirely up to you. I’d say this game is for people wants to think with their brain while playing (challenging game), or simply follow a guide playing without much thinking. Anything else I wouldn’t recommend this game. It’s so much going on, so many learning and quite hardcore, definitely not everyone and that’s ok. Bottom line at least you gave it a go.
