Quite a surprise, but I preferred the Krank on both active and passive guitars. Seemed like a more well rounded, full tone to my ears. Great video!

Both amps sound great for Metal, I much prefer the sound of the Les Paul with the passive pickups, a lot more organic and alive IMO. Maybe I'm biased since I've never been a big fan of active pickups and trust me I've tried. Good job my man.

Bogner sounds smoother and more defined in the lower mids. Thanks for doing these vids, as an Uberschall owner this is really informative about how they sound in comparison to other amps!

I have two Krankenstein+'s, love them!

Wow, I listened without looking the first time and preferred the Krank. Saturated but clear and with a nice mid-range punch. Also, dat Gibby. 🤤

Krank is tighter on the low end with a bit more upper mid definition..but has high fizz...the Uber has a big low end and a bit more refined mid/high character..I could live with either amp..love your vids Lasse!

I'm starting to dig low output pickups into high gain amps. Love my 81, but my 59/custom hybrid sounds pretty awesome too!!

Bogner all the way, although I will say that the Krank sounded a whole lot better with the Les Paul than it did with the PRS. The Les Paul was by far the best sounding guitar. There´s no need for high-gain pickups when the amps already have plenty of gain available.

Cool comparison! Amp choice is definitely a matter of taste/song. All I know for sure is that I prefer the lower output passive pickups :p

Idk why people say they prefer the uberschall.....the Krank blew it away for me. Maybe they like more mids...

I have the first series krankenstein, and it's tight as hell and knocks everything off my shelves. It can turn my stomach and shake my windows... never had or played anything like it!

The les paul with the passives sounds so much better its not even funny

Krankenstein for the win. I think the passive pickups sounded better. Normally I play with an active emg 81. Would be cool to hear a comparison between the emg 81 and some seymour duncan passive pickups on the krank. Thanks for the video man and keep on rockin!

Hard to say which one i like better... maybe the bogner a little... love how you used the les paul at a normal tuning... helps with the comparisons... i’m only now experimenting with 7 strings...

Someone finally made the Krank sound great! Which would you reach for first when tracking a record?

Krank sounded clearer on the fast rhythms; Bogner sounds thicker and fatter. I'd go with the former for thrash or anything more "modern", and the latter for stuff like '90s NYDM/Florida death metal.

I prefer the Krank with the first guitar but Bogner with the second. Bogner with the Les Paul was the best though, more open and aggresive

In both guitars Krank sounds sharped and Bogner rounded, but with some ajustments in highs and mids maybe the Krank would sound better.

I loved the Krank. Lasse, have you ever tried a Friedman Butterslax? That's an unique high gain amp too.

Both sound solid I do think the Uber had maybe a bit more of a “full” sound then the Krank but both are killer

I have a krank rev 1 but was considering on getting a bogner but after hearing this, I think the krank sounds better, so I'll just keep the krank! :)

Interesting. I would've thought these two would be more alike, but it seems like the Krank has more bite, and the Bogner is smoother and chunkier. The Krank has an almost Marshall-y kinda bite to the attack. Curious, what tubes do you have in your Krank? I like a Mullard CV4004 in V1 in mine and a Sovtek LPS in the PI of mine.

I preferred the Krank, but I've had one for years and used to gig that thing. For pt. 4 you should do Uber vs. your Pittbull Fifty/CL. I would love to hear those two compared like this.

These are my two favorite amps, and what I jam on regularly. Krank was extremely underrated. Krank with a guitar that has SD EMTY PU's, Bogner with EMG's

Have you also tried the Krankenstein V1 Lasse ? I have wanted one for quite awhile but I can never decide if I should get a V1 when it comes along, or hold out for a +. Just curious if you think there's enough of a difference to justify one or the other. Thanks dude!

I think i liked the Krank more with the Fishmans and the Bogner more with the passives. Both sounded great though.

Hey Lasse, nice comparison. I have a question about the Krankenstein. I´m using one myself and its an amazing amp. Only my FX loop is not working good. When I put some effects in the loop, the amp sounds much quieter, noisier and very bad. I checked it out a lot of times and there is no mistake in my gear or how I set up the connection. Do you have the same problems with your amp, too? Or a advise for me? Thanks!

Surprised I preferred the Krank. If a similat EQ could be applied to the Bogner I bet it would sound even more amazing, but I remember you mentioning Bogner had strange EQ knobs.

Both amps sound great! Both were great with the LP, I much prefer the Uber with the actives. I own lots of amps and have tried many many more, Uber has that saturation in the mids found in very few amps (most Diezel have this but in a different way) that sings to my years, hence it's my second best amp after my Elmwood Modena.

Hi, Lasse. Could you record short clips using signal from FX Send and IR's to estimate preamp stages sound only of both. As I heared that Krank Krankenstein, for example, sounds not so good without power section involved. (from custom builders who make some preamp replicas). Thank you. And if it's possible, could you upload tracks without IR (RAW DI from Send) to try it with our own impulses. Thank you. P.S. I liked amp number 1 more for more tight sound (don't like muddy low end which is often will be just cutted out from mix anyway), then I came back to video where you tell which amp it actualy was. But both are great for high gain I guess.

the Gibson with it's low gain vintage PU's cuts out more differences for me between the 2 Amps, btw, what's that ampswitcher in detail ?

The Kranks were great amps. For a period of time in the early 2000s they were everywhere. Unfortunately the business side of the company had serious issue and forced them to close shop.

The uberschall takes this very clearly, the sound is more open and organic, while the krank sounds more like a modeller.

That’s a sin! Of course number 2 which is the Bogner. Huge difference or clarity punch brutality and evilness of the tone. But the krank is not BAD for $300
