A high definition close up look at the Uberti El Patron 357 magnum single action revolver. THIS VIDEO IS PROPERTY OF BATJAC J.W COPYRIGHT NO PERMISSION IS GIVEN TO COPY OR REPRODUCE THIS CONTENT.
They owe you one for this video my man! The way you feature the gun against that background brings out the color and beauty of the gun like nothing I've seen yet. Looks like the Rembrandt of guns! Great job.
Well made video covering this gun's safety feature. I had a Uberti Cattleman with the same action for several years and never knew this was possible. But.. then I didn't care. I just carried it in the nonfoolish proper way. Load one, skip one etc. I liked the gun, well made and finished. I sold it when the pin in the hammer kept backing out too close to the frame. It finally fell out unseen one day dropping the firing pin into the action. I had a smith repair it before I traded it in. I do miss the cool four clicks to cock. Don't miss that it printed 6 inches to the left.
I've got a couple of these revolvers one in 45 colt the other in .357 / 38 in 5 1/2 inch barrel. I really like these guns and great quality. Good review nice gun.
@@BATJACJW well Batjac after 6 years I still my 45 Colt and 357/38 ElPatron revolvers and still enjoy shooting them , I hope your still enjoying yours as well .
Thanks for showing that BATJAC. I have the Cattleman Uberti convertible (have a 45 COLT and 45 ACP cylinders). Love the gun, the grips you made for me are on that gun. I've been thinking of getting this exact model (El Patron in 357) too. After seeing it on your video, looks like I'll be picking one up soon. Uberti makes a great COLT replica.
I have the brass cattleman 2 and i just picked up the El Patron today. Can't wait to shoot it. I also do blacksmithing and have a full machine shop. I think i might be able to make one of these pretty easily.
Jealous..... I am. Awesome review! I have the standard 22 long roughrider (&mag) 7inch. But, my 38spl makes up for the short fall- single action. Midcase, got the semi 9 and worstcase.... 🔫.... got the AR!

I’m going to look at this exact gun tomorrow. I have the El Patron Belaza in 45 LC and it has the wolf spring kit, it’s fantastic. I’m eager to see this .357 Patron to add to my collection but the one I’m looking at is a 4 3/4 Patron
I recently purchased the El Patron new model, it came with the Wolf spring. The only thing I don't like about this revolver? The pin that rides against the back of the hand can easily get away from you during a thorough cleaning, and the VERY SMALL screw that plugs the hole in the frame for that system has already gotten away from me. I see it listed for around $5 on various sites, but everyone is out of stock right now. I wonder why...🤔 EDIT Don't let the pin spring gallop off into the sunset either. So far I've managed to keep that one corralled.
Thanks great video. My cattleman has the serial number punched on the cylinder where yours has the cylinder numbers. I see yours has the serial number on the side of the cylinder. Mine does not. Are all the El Patron's like that?
Thanks for this video. After seeing this I'm really going to be checking this gun out. I've been looking for a good cowboy gun to get, and this looks like it. I didn't know they had a safety. I like that, plus liking the 357/.38. So again, thanks.
Halo. I got two ubertis el patron 'competition' in 38/357. One is old one like yours -> safety option in hammer and double notches on axle. But another one is quite modernized. Firing pin has special mechanism inside hammer and modernized trigger. It locks firing pin when trigger is fully pushed back. Strange thing ... I got them new, I will see at the range if this is any issue at fast try at cowboy action time ...
Don't think I've seen any other video show that safety feature. That's really neat. Do you know if the Cimarron ones do that too? I know Cimarron's revolvers are Uberti-made, but I don't know if they have them made to include that feature or not.
Current Cimarron models have the safety feature. Old models (bulls eye ejector) are 4 click hammers later type (half moon ejectors) have 3 click hammers.
Hello, do you think this armory would perform well in terms of defense and durability? What about the quality of these weapons compared to an 82 taurus? Thank you, waiting for a reply.
I just got mine in today and I noticed that it only has 3 clicks? It seems like its completely skipping the first click and going straight to half cock every time. I haven't even fired it yet. Not sure how they would miss that though. Any thoughts? I contacted uberti and I am waiting for a reply
Hi, I'm just now looking at the different safeties on these SA revolvers. Can you tell me what that piece is below the firing pin on the hammer? I was thinking that was some form of disconnect between the trigger and firing pin like I've seen on other models but you did not talk about what it is. I also noticed the hole in the hammer behind that small block. That made me think it could be some form of lockout device. Can you explain what it is and how it works? Thanks.
I myself have the Cimarron's frontier model they import them from Pietta Italy. Good revolver very close to the Colt without the bank account busting price tag.
The million dollar question that Uberti wont answer....can I put a 9mm cylinder in my .357 El Patron and fire it? You can on other, cheaper models, but being "hand fitted" can you on the El Patron????
I'm going to be buying one of these in the next few days. In your scenario of carrying 6 with the safety engaged, when you disengage the safety and the hammer drops a little bit, causing the firing pin to poke through the firing pin hole, wouldn't that hit the primer with enough force to set the round off if bumping the hammer when it's already fully seated sets it off?
The turn ring indicates that the bolt is slightly dragging on the cylinder is rotated. It could indicate a timing issue or the bolt was not filed down and fitted correctly at the factory. The nicks and gouges in the cylinder slots where the bolt rests is NOT normal however. It could be the result of fanning the hammer.
Could you please let us know the cylinder throat diameter at the barrel end of the cylinder. My El Patron measured 0.364 to 0.365. Returned to importer under warranty, still waiting to get it back. Just, wondering if yours is closer to normal. Thanks
Hi, could you help me? I am about to buy an 1873 5.5, 357/38 and I would like to know briefly which one I should buy / which one is better, among them Cimarron, Traditions, Pietta and Uberti, which one would have more quality and would not give me any problems. Thank you, I await the reply.
Cesar, go with Cimarron or Taylor’s and Company. Their guns are imported from Uberti or Pietta that are made to their specs. Cimarrons are probably the most authentic. Especially their “Model P” in the old frame, and it will be a traditional 4 click No safety, as do all of their performance “Evil Roy” line up. These are made by Uberti as well.
@@danielkleinheksel8853 Do you think this weapon has quality in machining? From the material that is made, do you think it could harm me in breaking pieces?
@@hamergalil1263 I’m sorry I’m not quite sure what it is you’re asking. Are you asking if Uberti makes a good quality firearm that is made of modern materials and will stand up to regular use? Than yes it will. Thousands of competitive shooters have and do use their guns for decades. I think that Taylor’s and Company and Cimarron stand by their products and are particular about how they have Uberti build their guns to their specs, especially Cimarron. I have also been very happy with the customer service from Taylor’s. I carry and use their “Runnin Iron” in .45 Colt in stainless steel that is “Taylor tuned,” it is a beautiful firearm. I have a very good friend who owns and shoots actual Colts that I have handled and shot. One is 119 year old first generation Colt, the other is a late 3rd generation Colt from Colts custom shop. Both are beautiful firearms to shoot. However, I was amazed at how close the Uberti was to the actual Colts. If you are looking for hard use and will probably never need to chang a spring?... get a Ruger New Vaquero, just keep in mind it is not traditional and will feel different from a Colt or Clone but it will be stronger as far as springs and overall reliability. I DO NOT think that they are higher quality, they are just mechanically different.
@@danielkleinheksel8853 Thank you very much for the information and your dedication. It was very useful. I will study more in relation to these materials. I will definitely buy one of these revolvers. Thankful.
that first "click"of the hammer ? that's the actual ORIGINAL safety notch ! Even the orignal Colts and others had them and us old timers new what they were for , a VERY hard blow with a hammer , could sometimes, overcome this and some pansies cried ,wept and beat their breasts and got together with some lawyers to create the system that has been handed down to what exists today .
Up graded springs and grips and I think the rear sight may be different. I have 2 of the El Patrons in 357 one like this and one with retracting firing pin. I love them and both have 4 clicks and both go BOOM when the hammer drops!
The el patron replica, at least the one I got is a great gun in the .357 configuration. It handles the .357 hot loads well, will not hurt your hand, you can shoot it all day long. Mine came right on point from factory, maybe the great trigger helps a lot, might be the best trigger in a gun you can buy out of the box with no mods. I'm talking bullseyes and 9s consistently at 15 yards using .357 full loads from an occassional shooter. I bet a good shooter could hit 9s at 50 yards with this gun without a problem. Their bisley is also a good and accurate gun but the trigger is just a bit heavier. By the way, stay away from their pin on frame newer designs, they jam.
My buddy got this exact gun ...and I got the Vaquero 357mag at the same time LOL...we were going to be cowboys ( senile lol) anyway the Uberti is a better gun if you are OK with 38s and sometimes 357 if you want a steady diet of 357mag go Vaquero its like a tank
Hey brother, Uberti can also take a consistent feeding of full power 357 magnum. The charging holes in the cylinder are very thick and it is made to be used for consistently firing magnum loads. Ruger makes a fine gun, I have a few and they are my favorite manufacturer. The reason Ruger makes the frames so beefy is because they are cast instead of forged. Nothing wrong with that at all but they aren't big and thick without good reason. 👍
