I downloaded the Ubisoft La Forge - Animation Dataset . but i did'nt find any animation or bvh file in that.
@ryanmuoio6569
@ryanmuoio6569 10 месяцев назад
I actually don't remember how I downloaded the animations, since I did so a long time ago, but I know the repository provides instructions for how to properly perform the download of such a large zip file. If you follow the advised approach, all the BVH files will be present.

thank you, but how did you dowload these animations ? github link zip file doesnt contain any animation.
@ryanmuoio6569
@ryanmuoio6569 10 месяцев назад
I downloaded them a long time ago, long before I did anything with the animations, so I don't remember the details. However, I do remember following the special instructions written at the Github repo, which details how to deal with large file downloads from GitHub.

Its non commercial animation, aparently there is a "license" for only non comercial use
@ryanmuoio6569
@ryanmuoio6569 10 месяцев назад
Yup, you are is correct. But the animations may still be helpful for prototyping purposes, which was what I intended to use them for and was the motivation for making this video.

i have rokoko add on installed but i dont have the better fbx add on. Was wondering if you can still get those mocap animations into unreal without issue.

I haven't tried, actually. You probably can, but I wouldn't be able to provide insight on that.

Hi. I don't know anything about animation but im fascinated by it. If i learned how to use these programs, would i be able to lets say combine the animations i create with a game like assassins creed mirage?
@ryanmuoio6569
@ryanmuoio6569 8 месяцев назад
In theory, yes. Creating the character movement quality of something like Assassin's Creed is not a small task. The animations need to be polished, and the animation programming needs to be well done. But, yeah, you can certainly achieve what you aim to achieve given patience and persistence.

@@ryanmuoio6569 I mean , the only thing I'm trying to add is some horizontal wall runs. I wonder why no one has attempted it. I guess I'm going to have to be the first one
@ryanmuoio6569
@ryanmuoio6569 8 месяцев назад
@@leo-io5vg, I'm not sure what you mean by "horizontal" wall run. Horizontal seems to imply running on the ground... 😅

@@ryanmuoio6569 I meant similar to prince of persia. What would you call it? Do you think that would be possible?
@ryanmuoio6569
@ryanmuoio6569 8 месяцев назад
@@leo-io5vg, oh, I'm guessing you meant "vertical." Yes, creating almost any type of movement system is possible, but you'll need the appropriate animations and an appropriate level of skill in animation programming.

should that root bone stay in the center?
@ryanmuoio6569
@ryanmuoio6569 4 месяца назад
Nope, it definitely shouldn't. You'll need to constrain the root bone to the pelvis or some other bone, and then smooth it. I'm currently writing an Unreal plugin to do that, but the plugin isn't quite done.

Can i import all of them in Unreal in one take?
@ryanmuoio6569
@ryanmuoio6569 Год назад
You might be able to, but I haven't tried. I was happy enough just getting a single animation in. I spent too much time trying to figure this out. (And I'm grateful to my friend Dan who showed me the above solution.) If you find a way to perform the process as a batch, I'd be interested in learning that approach.

there's gotta be a better way than doing all this for each animation
@ryanmuoio6569
@ryanmuoio6569 5 месяцев назад
I'm sure there is a better way. I think Maya can probably handle this task easily. I don't have Maya, and I'm not an animator, so I had to develop a convoluted approach. If you find a video or resource on a streamlined approach, I'd love to take a look at it.
