Yasuke is a disrespectful choice. Whether he was treated as a Samurai or not, we know his interaction with Japan ended with him handing over his sword and giving up, and being sent to the Jesuits like a loser. The excuse for letting him live was that he didnt know any better.

I agree with a lot of the stuff in the video, but I don’t think Yasuke was added for diversity. Asian people are also a minority and these types of people normally only need diversity when there are “too many” white people. In my opinion I believe they just thought he’d be a cool character to over exaggerate. Plus for the people who don’t like it, there is an Asian protagonist that represents assassins creed gameplay better who you could play instead. I don’t think people who disagree with yasuke being one of the two main characters are racist though, that’s just ignorant. Also, I don’t think one of the main characters race should keep you from playing the game. The gameplay and graphics look great and it’ll probably be the best game since unity. To me, what people should be talking about are the extremely high prices that were advertised instead.

@@darkstalkerknight63 There is plenty of proof that it does trash a lot of Japanese things. Look up the Shinto gate. There is an example of one being in the game, but there is no Shinto shrine. Those gates are supposed to indicate the location of a shrine. They also have rap going in the action battle music, enemies being tortured and shown no respect in fights, no historic accuracy on the little information that we do have on that historic African man, all sorts of things.

@@shebooishhe was. The samurai did have family lines that were passed down but they would also pay people a samurai stipend for doing samurai work thus making them samurai. Yasuke was no different. People really need to stop the romanticism of Samurai and knights and legionnaires. A lot of them did less than honourable things in antiquity.

I refuse to buy any Ubisoft game. Was a fan for many years but their greedy practices have convinced me to not buy their games anymore. Asking over a £100 to get everything is a rip off and how will I know that in a couple of years Ubisoft might just pull the game so I can't even play it.

Ok but yasuke isn’t even a woke choice he already has an established presence in media so it’s just a smart marketing tactic in general, historically he was a Bushi, which hasn’t been viewed as distinct from samurai since the Meiji era (though in the Sengoku era there was a defined distinction that set them apart) this is specifically stated in the Maeda archives “the black man was taken into lord Nobunaga’s service, he was given a home, a short sword, and a stipend,” he’s confirmed to have participated in 3 skirmishes in 1582 at Tenmokuzan, Honouji, and Nijo, and an unnamed witness places him at Yamazaki manning a canon (which yeah if a dear friend of mine had been killed by a traitor who then proceeded to publicly embarass me and denounce my titles on the grounds of my race I’d want some pay back to) sooooo not woke, this one is actually rather intelligent and calculated, but I will say wait until it comes out to gauge the quality because this could go either way, it could be an absolute masterpiece or dog water SJW fan fiction, it’s all about the execution

Was Yasuke an actual person existed? Yes. But As he only have the first name and no family name, he definitely was not a samurai. And with only one and half a year with Oda how can he be a top samurai from the very bottom of the society? No UBI staffs and their followers say he's a samurai by not understand what samurai is. Did you ses his katana going left to right of his waist and that truelly shows UBI doesn't care the cultural background. Samurai belts his katana on left side no matter which your dominant hand is, to avoid touching each others katanas while passing on narrow streets or roads. Torii gates are a gate to a shrine and even if it look like it just stand on the street there IS a shrine somewhere hundred meters away.
