Or the building of some of these big temples the Graeco-Roman age of Egypt was famous for. How about Philae or Edfu ? You have the "mega characteristic most Egyptian thing evah" and the historically acurate combined. Even if these temples are unknown to the general audience Ubisoft aims its games at, it will raise questions and people will discover for themselves these monuments.

The creed: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted. " Revelations: "To say that nothing is true, is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say that everything is permitted, is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and we must live with the consequences, whether glorious or tragic." T.T Ubisoft: lets shit on all of it.
@noblesseoblige319
@noblesseoblige319 4 года назад
To be fair, every game after the first has tried to offer an explanation as to what that creed means. The fact that "Everything is permitted, for us and others, so our foes may use messed up tactics against us. Just a heads up" is an acceptable definition of that part of the creed means that it can change at any point, so it really isn't all that important
@Phurzt
@Phurzt 4 года назад
@@noblesseoblige319 naw fam. There was always concrete meaning to the creed. The the templars and the assassins both benifit from not allowing the general public to know who or what they are. Templars and Assassins also have opposing ideology so they will always be at war with each other. From this we can conclude "Nothing is true" to mean that hiding in plain sight, staying in the shadows is ideological as much as it is strategical. Assassins do not follow the laws of the land. Nothing is true because the "truth" is of templar and isu design. The "truth" can literally be altered with pieces of eden. Nothing is true means to understand the brotherhood exists outside what the ignorant populace believes to be true. From that it also makes logical sense that everything is permitted. The templars are always powerful because their goal is power and control. They will always be in political and economic power and from that they will make laws, and the Assassins will always look like evil from outside onlookers. "Everything is permitted" means you should not bind oneself to laws of the land. Only the creed matters, not the laws drawn up by templar conspirators.
@noblesseoblige319
@noblesseoblige319 4 года назад
@@Phurzt yes and no. I was being literal when I said that they keep giving new definitions to that maxim. According to Altaïr, what you said was the creed and what it meant. According to ezio, in revelations, it's what the OP said: "To say that nothing is true, is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say that everything is permitted, is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic" According to Arno, it was a warning that people like the Templar, isu, and anyone else can use "truth" they manufacture to twist ideals into dogma and then to blind fanaticism. The only way to combat this is to not follow any set of rules blindly. Edward claimed (after getting over his selfishness and intentionally twisting the creed to suit his needs) that it meant that one should choose what they believed to be true and what to do about it based on their own experiences and what they themselves can see. Conner.... Well, his interpretation was weird. It was basically a repeat of Altaïr's "three ironies of the creed", only more focused on how everyone is innocent or no one is. Then there's shay.... Actually, no, let's skip him.
@noblesseoblige319
@noblesseoblige319 4 года назад
@Ked Taczynski one is the literal opposite though
@noblesseoblige319
@noblesseoblige319 4 года назад
@Ked Taczynski oh, I agree, but with each new game they keep trying to reinvent the wheel and give a new meaning to the maxim, which often leads to completely new meanings. Sadly, since all games are cannon, it means that basically any assassin could say "it means this" and have that be technically correct. I personally feel like the first time in the series they give a definition, ezios, that it should be taken as the real meaning and the others are just different interpretations, but that's just an opinion I have because I'm a nerd

Glad you've accepted my argument that all the sanctuary assassins will be related. Also, you forgot to bring up that Kassandra having Aya makes no sense as to why we had to choose between Alexios or Kassandra to sequence the DNA, as the Animus should realize that Kassandra and Aya are related due Aya's DNA being sequenced and stored in origins. As far back as AC2 we saw that the animus can point out common ancestors between users even based on its internal database.

This. They'll probably say that's why Layla was able to relive the memories of the Eagle Bearer (an individual with high Isu DNA concentration) without any issues, because she already had some DNA to go off of, but it was *fucking stupid* that the animus didn't recognize or cross-reference the sample for any similarities or common ancestors. They could've gone with Kassandra as the main protag and it would all make sense and be better in an irl aspect.

God AC Odyssey is just an assassin’s creed fan fiction. It literally has fan fiction writing levels of quality. The pyramid being built despite the fact they were 2,000 years old, being forced to have a kid in an RPG despite the fact you have the option to be gay, making the main character the single most important AC character, giving the character superpowers, making the character related to everybody ever. Like wtf next you’re gonna tell me Jesus Christ, William Shakespeare, Charles Darwin and George Washington were also all related to Kassandra

Here’s why I think people don’t understand how dumb it is that the pyramids were being built, and I’m going to use his analogy of ezio and the colosseum. In most history classes (that I’ve ever taken) we learn about Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome, and the renaissance, grouper up just like that. What books and teachers leave out is that the time span of “Ancient Egypt” is longer than the beginning of the Ancient Roman civilization to the end of the renaissance... we learn about the pyramids, king tut and cleopatra never really understand that each of them are over 1000 years apart! So I think that’s why people are so okay with it.. they’re just like “it’s Ancient Egypt, its pyramids nstuff” opposes to “the colosseum is Ancient Rome, ezio was during the renaissance”
@brianmckinney3843
@brianmckinney3843 5 лет назад

Yeah, I think that's what people don't understand about Ancient Egypt compared to other periods of ancient history like the Greeks or the Romans. Ancient Egypt spans about 4000 years, compared to the time periods of Ancient Rome, the Medieval Period or the Italian Renaissance, that is an insane amount of time. Ptolemaic Egypt as in AC Origins was under Roman hegemony, it was the very end of Egypt as a semi-independent state until about 2000 years later when it gained full independence from the British.

Remember having to find the apple in the photos? Narratives like that has been missing for a while. That writing and story telling...I miss that. It seems like they just completely dropped the previous events, and for a bit it was confusing. So now when someone who really knows the series try to make sense of it, it contradicts. So what I gathered from the ending, as cool as the building of the pyramid and sphinx is , is that Darius didn't go to Egypt. He took alexios/kass' child to Persia and from there the child migrated. I'm surprised you didn't touch on something I noticed about Kassandra's relationship and baby. Back when the episode came out, there was a temporary upheaval because the Odyssey Protag was being forced into a heterosexual relationship, where before, the player was given pretty much free reign on that front. When the backlash happened, Ubisoft came out with an explanation, stating essentially "She needs to ensure the survival of the bloodline, otherwise we couldn't visit her with the Animus". Okay, nevermind the fact that, as you pointed out, this forced relationship comes out of nowhere and is not earned at all... It's BS, but not to my point, so, let's put that aside. But Ubisoft's excuse of "we need her DNA to survive in order to use the Animus, so she needs a kid", doesn't hold a drop of water. Why? BECAUSE THE DNA THAT ALLOWS FOR US TO VISIT KASSANDRA COMES FROM THE SPEAR! In fact, THAT's why you have a choice of characters in the FIRST PLACE! Because the spear contains 2 STRANDS OF DNA... KASSANDRA AND ALEXIOS. SO WHY, Oh WHY! Did we need to force her to have a child? Rant over.

In response to this response… in origins, there is a mission where you have to fight two brothers named the Gallic (probably not the correct spelling) brothers. When you fight them, the names over each of their heads is their first name followed by Gallic (their last name. It DOES NOT say over each of their heads “The Gallic Brothers”, even though everyone refers to them as The Gallic Brothers. That would be absolutely silly. Another example, if you say worked for a company or business, you don’t get referred to by the name of the business (let alone in combat). Hell, even in the Franchise itself, you do not just see a health bar and name over the Borgia with the name “The Templars” over his head. But I digress.

One thing they could have done for the time lapse of Kassandra's descendants is show the pyramids deteriorate. We already see that in Origins, certain sections of The Pyramids are begining to chip off. The smooth marble layer have wide withered gaps in between them and the gold plating on the peak has a few imperfections showing through. Even though it would have been a slightly less notable sign of time passing by, it would have made sense. (Which is what the Odyssey writers were avoiding, I guess)

In 2021 Ash will lead his team in making an ultimate AC game featuring both Scandinavia and Japan as the setting in one game. Ubisoft has talked before about adding multiple time periods in one game. I think next year Ubisoft Sofia will test this idea out by having the game set most around 100AD with a new protagonist, but there will be flashbacks of Aya and Bayak.

I liked the DLC ending cutscene, it was pretty neat but it instantly made me question what the hell their reasoning behind building the pyramids was when they were already there. My best theory was that it was a sort of metaphor about the rise of a new generation and legacy? I dunno.

I played it for the anniversary. It is such a casual effort. The real problem with Natakas is that they gave you options on how to deal with him. I viewed him as a thirsty sack, so my Kassandra took all the options to be dismissive & cold, so all the "moving" bits with Kass acting heart-broken was just hollow & bizarrely out of place. If they wanted it to be meaningful, they'd have written it as a proper story, more linear and defined without dialogue options. Remember that Kass/Alexios is immortal and dies in present day (which was just pointless & bizarre as well), so they could literally make her the mother of every single Assassin, including Desmond, as long as we haven't seen their mother (but not Connor).

Tbh, after knowing that Aya has Greek ancestry, and Odyssey was going to be set in Greece, I thought we'd look into an ancestor of Aya, because it's just like putting Desmond in the Animus with regards to reliving memories from 2400 years ago, which is basically 400 years ago for Aya. Not reading a handprint on a weapon It just bugs me that this was also give us a logical reason for SEEING Darius' past. I always thought the first mission of Origins could be the memories of Darius, as an ancestor of Bayek, showing a tutorial for sneaking and assassinating someone, then showing that the blade was passed down, or I was at least expecting to be able to relive Darius' memories when we found the second mummy because it had his blade, and I thought it would be best to either be his body, or for Aya to be a descendant.

I got really pissed seeing the construction of the sphinx and the pyramids, considering Assassin's Creed used to pride itself on historical accuracy, this annoyed me immensely, a better way to do it would be have the sphinx and pyramids look in better condition and gradually lose colour or something so it shows how the monuments are decaying with time

The Immortals was named that way because in their description it said they were twins thought as one and being in two places at once so as you fight it seems you are only fighting one man but you are fighting two that is why they are called the immortals Also in the quest named the simple life you walk around doing “nothing” because you are supposed to be living as any other citizen with Natakas so the quest shows you what has been happening and it also takes you back to the beginning of the game when you were just doing small pity jobs and living a simple life before the cult or hades and persephone so it is also a nostalgia thing. It is also a break from all of the fighting and action throughout the game And I u understand your frustration with the ending cinematic and the weird acting and the characters which I didn’t feel like that and I didn’t really care about the time difference even though it was wrong because it was so beautiful but your argument is still valid. And honestly some very dumb decisions were made and most everything else I didn’t touch in this comment I agree with and I think I like this game so much because I look at it from more of an Assassins creed game that is separate from the others but to each his own.I felt very immersed and did anything to keep it that way I absolutely loved all dlc and the game with well over 200 hours on it, max level 99, all storylines done(waiting for 3rd episode of the fate of Atlantis) all legendary armor and weapons maxed out adresdia, all massive locations and objectives complete and completion many times over 100% with most all of the Assassins creed games and 1 thousand plus total hours..... in all I feel very educated about the franchise and I have always been super in to all parts of history and knowing a lot about all religions and mythology’s so I feel my opinion is justified and should be respected also I respect you opinion and if you read all of this thank you
@Celerott
@Celerott Год назад
This is what happens when you don't care about the franchise you make, let greed drive you instead. This game shows both, but it's even worse here because Ubisoft decided to cross the same line. Other companies have crossed and interjected their politics into it. That's why she's the most important character in the franchises history, and Desmond is no longer the most important modern-day character. It's really sad to see the franchises fall this far, because it had the potential to be the greatest video game franchise in history, but instead it's become a complete joke, and shows how soulless the industry can be.
