AOB and target's course are basically the same thing. The ship's course is approx 90 degrees from your ship and you are off its port side. Notice when you changed from AOB to course the needle you set were in the same place.
@@ReverendRoss Forgot to mention, I’m having a blast with the game much more than with Silent Hunter 3……couldn’t even complete the torpedo training let alone the torpedo exam from that game and some other stuff, got to frustrating so I stopped playing and then heard about U-Boat did some research and saw some vids on RU-vid about it and purchased it immediately…..lol.
Is there a keyboard button i press or hold when I’m looking thru the periscope to bring up the periscope tool calculation box that pops up at the bottom middle of the screen ? Every time I try to do calculations only the periscope tools on the left side of the screen show on my screen……….also does the mechanic or engineer warm up the torpedoes and where is the tab to command them to do so ?
@@Akumaa2000 As for the Engineer (and all other crew members) holding 'tab' will bring up the crew management screen, allowing you to order your officers around. If only one part of the calculations show up maybe try changing to borderless or windowed (that's just a guess though) And for the first part you mentioned, I do not believe there's a button to pull up the calculations. Hope all that helps!
When i was trying to track down a ship in the fog, i found out that you can't see anything through the periscope, especially when the fog is to thick, so you have to measure the velocity, angle of the ship and distance on the map
Cheers. Useful video. This game is on my wish list. I also noticed that there are difficulty levels and levels of crew automation. Good for newbies and the seasoned micro-manager!
I've always had trouble trying to utilize the individual crew scheduling. My guys are always yawining, complaining and "moody" or "mude" or sometihng when i make the schedule lol
Very nice video to introduce people to the game. For performance (and better temps), if you are running the game on fullscreen try switching to fulscreen borderless, so windowed borderless. It help me a lot.
That was really helpful thank you. I just finished the tutorials and must admit I was sitting in port wondering about the best way to start. Your vid has pointed me in the right direction. :) Can I ask, if I research at HQ, I have to leave an officer to do it and sail with a man short? You helped me a lot with the periscope view. I was wondering about that tiny window! :) Is there something to tell me which ships are fair targets?
@@greybadger3142 As for the HQ, you do have to sail away with one less officer, but don't worry, once the research project is done, you can assign him back to the Uboat. As for seeing what ships are fair to sink, board them and check their papers or cargo, if stuff doesn't match up, you can pressure the captain and possibly get the option to sink it, hope that helps :)
Yeah! u missing several important parts. U don`t draw a course line for the freighter so u can be sure of the course. U don`t find the exact angle of bow either. It worked because u are close and it is a freighter in full daylight and silent sea. But new player will likely miss if they do as u do. The relative course u find with measure up the angel of the boat.
@@Xipheas True, but my system of aiming torpedoes still work, if you want one specifically for the TDC, there's a great and in-depth video from Wolfpack345 on how to use the system
