Let's see: -No shaky cam -Clear and creative choreography that displays character -Scenes that keep emotional engagement and tension without ruining it with a joke -Great effects such as that slicing the fly effect -Provides a good twist on what seems to be a straight forward story This is amazing work! Loukman Ali, you are already LIGHTYEARS ahead of most Hollywood productions here in America. Keep going and keep creating!
This is incredible as an African American media major this is what the African Diaspora needs. I know many people that would pay whatever the asking price to see our people painted in a positive light. ✊🏾
Very well written, directed, color stabilized, audio, sound efx, maaaaaan you got something beautiful going on! No dialog but so much said!!!! Love it!!!
Excellent performance by the entire Production team. This is the kind of African content I want to see aired on our platforms and cinemas. Am so proud of your work 👋👋
Good choreography, nice amount of action. Establishes he's a bad ass from the time this short film starts, then the antagonist bests him in seconds with one hand. That was actually my favorite part. Establishes that he's a real threat. I would definitely watch this movie over any movie that Hollyweird produces. I'm black from the U.S. and I've been watching martial arts movies for over 45 years. This is a must watch. My only criticism as a moviegoer is the excessive use of lens flares. But, it's not a big deal, just a personal thing. Wouldn't stop me from watching this at all. Great job. 😁
YOU MUST HAVE SEEN ALL THE CLASSICS FROM HONG KONG LIKE SHAW BROTHERS & CHESS BOXING ! THE CHOREOGRAPHY HERE WAS VERY GOOD & THE GUYS ARE ALL HIGHLY SKILLED FIGHTERS ! I TOLD THEM THAT IF THEY USED CLASSIC HONG KONG SOUND EFFECTS, THEIR MOVIES WOULD BE PERFECT ! SOUND EFFECTS ARE VERY IMPORTANT.... HAND TO HAND SOUND EFFECTS.... SWORD TO SWORD SOUND EFFECTS.... HOLLYWOOD DOESN'T KNOW SH*T ABOUT SOUND EFFECTS OR CHOREOGRAPHY OF FIGHT SCENES !
Does anyone notice that this is essentially a "Silent Movie" without being silent. Another way to look at it is that this is a music video because there's no dialogue but just visuals to the sound score. Simply Brilliant. I'm scared that Hollywood is going to take Loukman away from us and make him an offer he can't refuse. I think he is as good as Ryan Coogler the Black Panther Director.
Actually, it's unbelievable that this is content by an African, produced in Africa. It's clear, no shady acting. the only thing missing is a proper dialog, an original story line, and music that doesn't sound like it comes from an Asian movie. I like the fact that it's not what we're always portrayed as in Africa, with a witchcraft, sick people, or any other African stories we already know about. Great camera test.
This is absolutely brilliant. Please consider developing this into a full movie. The fight scenes, sequence, sound and production are completely perfect. Job well done
Hummm? I'VE SEEN! AFRICAN, TRAP! African lofi, African rap, African Ragge, etc etc! Know wonder Africans love Europeans so much because y'all always copying other people's art like they do! This was trash like everything else in Africa!
You guys have no idea how much some of us pray for Ugandan movie industry to grow. I’m starting to proudly see the growth of quality .. Thank you so much, whatever is needed, make it known, we have active prayer closets to make sure you get all you need. Can’t wait to see the next ones representing African culture and norms in the contemporary setting
Very well put together short. Definitely should be proud of the production and the actors that contributed to this. I would watch an entire film of this. Absolutely great job
It’s king fu movies from the 70’s, but African. Brilliant! I grew up in Mufulira, Zambia and whenever a Bruce Lee or any Kung fu film came out, me and my mates were there.
Loukman took me to China and back. I loved the twist at the end. One would have thought the husband was the target, and that his daughter was his wife. Little did I know that the wife was the real target. Great piece of work, Loukman. And, as usual, you never fail to inspire a fellow filmmaker
WOWEOWOWOWOWOWOWWO!!!!!!! This was absolutely amazing, I have tears in my eyes. I’m American living in Colombia just browsing RU-vid and stumbled upon this.
Wow! I like the fact that Loukman Ali you've changed the flow of the Ugandan movie industry and you really set a pace. Thanks for opening young African eyes and inspiring them into industry simply by watching your work. We are really inspired, motivated, and grateful to you. Thank you for the good work done. We have now started seeing Uganda winning the Oscar Awards.
Just got a lot of new diaspora fans in USA with this one! The Video Quality clear and sound affects the Bomb! Man that was a=a great short more please! My Husband and I watched it and are now looking for more Ugandan movies.
This is so so cool, I really don't know much about movie concepts but one thing I'm so happy for is to see Africans producing and making classic movies with good stories as well. I'm from Sierra Leone and I really do appreciate your work sir. Continue doing the best and bringing Uganda and Africa at the top. Hope to see the end of THE AFRICAN JOHN WICK.
I understand some of the comments about "making it more authentic to African culture" but I also subscribe to the saying "let a painter, paint" . Maybe the creator is a fan of Martial Arts movies and wanted to make one? I'm not disagreeing with anyone's comments. I'm just saying, I was in a rock band for 15 years and often got asked why I didn't Rap. It's because I was a fan of Rock music. Just because I'm black don't mean I should only Rap or do what other think a Black guy should create. Just another perspective, that's all. As a new film maker myself, I was very impressed by this offering. Good job.
God damn.... Loukman did it again.. The martial arts intro in this video is absolutely mind-blowing! The precision, skill, and sheer athleticism displayed by the martial artist is simply mesmerizing. From the lightning-fast punches and kicks to the graceful movements and incredible control, every moment is packed with intensity and jaw-dropping action. It's a true testament to the beauty and power of martial arts. This intro is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates the Ugandan Film artistry and dedication.
This is brilliant work. Top quality production. Here's what I would love to see: More experimentation with our own cultures, outfits, music, etc. (if possible even the martial arts). We need to find our own authentic African look and make it look appealing to the world. I'm not taking anything away from this. This is amazing quality and I love the little plot twist in the end. ❤ Keep up the good work guys😊
You are very correct. Just imagine with the vibrant and colorful african (ugandan) culture it will appeal to many as they will want to take a look at the culture.
@@michaelmaps2004 Influence is very much dependent on entertainment. You give the world something new, authentic, appealing and entertaining, you are not only selling your content, you are introducing your unique culture to the world. If they fall in love with it, they will want to come and visit your country, and experience it themselves. There goes your tourism skyrocketing, and many other sectors. Embracing our cultures and advertising them to the world is one of the most powerful things we can do for our continent. Look at what Afro Beats is doing for Nigeria. Look at what the dance culture is doing for South Africa. People are always looking out for the next new thing. Not a repetition of the same thing they've been consuming for decades.
Thank you all the way from Texas. You have giving me something to allow my children to watch. It is decent, lesson teaching and action filled. Plus it is black! Much love and Respect.......BLACKEVERY THING
now this is how i expect african films to look. This was great, those other african films on TV before this one should be removed. A new standard in the industry is set.
we so much need this guy in Nollywood, i kinda over loved the last film he did in Nollywood which is brotherhood, Loukman Ali is a badass cinematographer, crazy crazy
Wow, this short film was amazing, the villain intro set the tone with no dialogue. You guys are extremely talented. Keep up the good work, success is on route 👏🏿
❤i just stumbled on this short video as a martial artist and video maker, from Nigeria... I confess this is a Master Piece. Weldone to the awesome team
As a colourist and editor. I'm just in love with the cut and the way you colour graded the picture. And credit to your team bro mostly the lighting director 💪💪👌
This was pretty cool! The camera work, lighting, and the actors were top notch. The main character has a cinematic everyman face. The rain was a nice touch. Nice homage to Asian cinema. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see your first feature film.
i like the small subtle humor of the dude fighting the "boss" every ten seconds. a random thug hypes himself up for 20 seconds and the MC just beats his ass in 1 kick is so funny to me
