As a student going into my freshman year of high school, I really want to get into UCLA, it has been my dream school for sooo long, I know it is a very competitive school to get into, but I will work my hardest in my high school years to get into UCLA, I really hope when I apply to this school I get in, but I know it’s takes a lot of hard work and time to get in, so let the challenge begin :)))
The main difference as compared to all my child’s other applications is that no letters of recommendation were required. I wonder what is the argument for or against LOR.
Bacon Pizza not really lol. Sure Princeton is "more prestigious" but for someone living in socal it might be better to attend ucla due to cost, and preference in terms of location
"Do something stupid. Just because it's dumb." Gary had some useful points, but lost me with that line. It's the kind of things active admission officers say to make you feel better about yourself. It's one of the reasons my channel exists.
There's a place where you can explain that. And maybe you weren't a part of the same soccer team at all four schools, but you continuously joined each soccer team or you made sure to take up whatever sports team your school did have. You can show that you have commitment to community service or leadership regardless of location.
There are exceptions, if you listened he said it's a holistic evaluation. If you moved 4 times in high school yet kept a high gpa and remained active in all of those schools, that might even impress the admissions officers more than the kid who did the same at just one school
Which SAT score is better? Composite: 1370, Math-740, English-630, Essay-17 or Composite: 1350, Math-680, English-670, Essay-20 I'm applying as a political science major.
@@idriskorane9697 really? I know it's been 3 years, but do you mind giving a bit of context? I'm doing AS and A-Levels and I'm also applying this year!!
in the University of California system Asians completely dominate admission. So what the likes of super left universities like Berkeley and UCLA have done is break Asian/Pacific Islander into 7+ different categories (chinese, japanese, filipino etc) to present the false appearance that Whites still are the majority and are therefore to blame for low numbers of black & latino enrollment. If one ethnic groups dominant enrollment was the sole factor to point to why blacks and latinos are underrepresented than you would have to lay the blame at the feet of asian over representation in the University of California system.
UCs are not able to consider race or ethnicity in the admition process so one race can't be purpusfuly over represented. Only test scores, GPA, APs, and extraciriculars will affect your admition.
Or maybe it’s because Asian culture promotes a good work ethic?... We’re highly disciplined, from when we grow up, we are taught that everything is earned, and we are expected to not only do our best, but go above and beyond what is needed. It’s something I don’t really notice with white families in general
@@DOPEdwarf The Admissions team CAN SEE the applicants name e.g Lupita Garcia, Deontay Jackson, Hyung Nguyen , Benjamin Goldberg, etc etc AND they can see the applicants extracurriculars Black Students Association, Asian Student Union, Future Latino Business Leaders etc . CLEARLY you never went to UCLA you simple-minded horse's ASS.
christianoh98 Hippie city* School itself is no more liberal than the average uni in America. Our chancellor is a neoliberal who got student protestors locked up through the 80s, and we aren't the uni that has professors saying they won't respond to white males in class; you're thinking of U Penn if you disagree ;)
I agree with you; I only chose Berkeley because I'm wholly focused on academics and desire proximity to strong graduate programs and influential professors. Besides this though, Berkeley is easily the worst city I've ever set foot in; it's drowning in the moldy decadence of anarchism as we speak. If you are to study at Berkeley, you should intend to remain on campus around the clock.
