Hawaii had their karma. They took this season too lightly. This is their best chance for another championship. They'll lose Thelle. Can't see hawaii winning next year too.
Definitely not their best playing! Who knows, maybe they’ll surprise us again next year as they did last year after losing so many big guns. The ‘21 match was pretty wild too!
Rowan! Best setter all year. He can set, serve and block! Amazing season for him and the Bruins! The fact that he’s only a freshman still amazes me! Congrats!
When Norris missed like 4 serves in the 2nd set I was seriously feeling the nerves. Then he dominated in 3 and 4 whenever he subbed in. That freshman setter plays like a senior. UCLA looked tired after a hard 2nd set but Hawaii looked exhausted/defeated towards the end of 3rd and 4th sets. UCLA was so deep with their rotation as well. I can tell the subs towards the end of each 3rd and 4th sets rejuvenated them. Great win!
Rowan is impressive. That dude is gonna be a superstar In the end, the team that played better won the match. UCLA was better all around and my concern about Hawaii’s serve receive (especially after PSU dropped 12 aces on them) came to fruition. Great match tho. That second set was one of the best sets I’ve watched in a while
I have been a Bruin fan since Karch's reign in the early '80s. I photographed the team for 4 years from 2015 on. I went to law school there. And now, I am sincerely overjoyed. If Rowan stays, there are more rings to come. Miles Partain, who was named 2022 MPSF Player of the Year and a first-team NVA/AVCA All-America selection, left because Rowan was overtaking his spot. Crazy good team next year.
@@locomojoboy2 From the posts that I’ve seen every one had Hawaii “three peating” . Post include “out of system” and other various social media outlets. Majority of the comments in these posts also had hawaii three peating.
Definitely. I think Thelle is the best setter in NCAA men’s volleyball currently, so if he had better serve receive he could have led his team to a win over UCLA.
Tough finish for Hawaii overpassing a free ball. I don't think they would have won even if that pass was perfect, but it will probably haunt him for a long time.
The ball was on the plane of the net, which means it's fair game for either side to contact. It's only an over call if no part of the ball has gotten over top of the net yet.
Epic match! Free ball error in set 1 was a killer. The challenge at the end was also totally legit. That should have been called against the hitter, as the ball had not completely crossed the plane for ucla to attack. Calling it “ridiculous”by the commentators was pretty shame, but the call probably would have been too controversial at that point and UCLA was definitely on track to win anyway. Congrats to the Bruins on a very solid game. Rematch 2024 🙏🏼
Hawaii will be the class of men’s volleyball moving forward. If they played just a fraction of what they did all year UCLA would have gotten smoked hands down.
I’m pretty sure UCLA has set the new standard. They’ve been rapidly improving all year. The main difference between this championship match and the last time Hawaii played against UCLA, has everything to with UCLAs improvement and nothing to do with Hawaii. Hawaii didn’t change, instead UCLA cut their service errors by more than half and worked on service receive. If anything, I’m surprised UCLA didn’t sweep Hawaii. I’m sure loosing the second set in that crazy deuce was tragic for them.
Ya ucla did a better job corrupting the momentum i think from Hawaii! We all think that ucla coach just wanted to challenge the second to the last point JUST TO TAKE AWAY THE MOMENTUM HAWAII WAS HAVING! Thats corruption of time and a sly he knows he did that on purpose! Shame on UCLA. Who’s coach mind will by the way ask for a time out for EVERY POINT THEY LOSE smh they don’t deserve the win sorry
What a stupid take. Each set has a fixed amount of timeouts and challenges to use. Of course a coach is going to use them since they can’t be carried over to the next point. This is common practice in volleyball. Are you going to ignore how Hawaii used all their timeouts too and even tried to challenge the last set point, even though it was a clear shot? It’s all such common practise, learn more about volleyball. Smh 🤨
