I love that you review all of these at once and gave us your opinion on them because most videos on one of the UCo matches are very short videos. I just bought 62 of the UCO tighten storm proof matches.

I love all the UCO products. I put them in all my kits. I glue the extra strikers under the lid of my tins. FYI ... You can char the base of the sweetfire and strike it with a ferro rod and use it like char cloth. Great video......

You got me looking at matches now My friends think I'm fire mad already. I always use a ferro rod and home made tinder and like using my various twig stoves etc just a gas stove to get the kettle boiled quick so i don't get nagged. I like the ferro rod cos it feels more basic, but some of those matches look fun. Thanks for the review

What i like to do is cut off the wood just enough on the stormproof matches to fit into one of those small 40 match boxes. I will have mostly normal waterproof matches so i dont waste the expensive stormproof ones but i try to have about 10 stormproofs in case there is trouble getting a fire started

Thanks for sharing, I think when they went to green, they were considered saftey matches. The ones I remember as a kid , we're red with a white tip. They were strike anywhere matches, no box striker needed. They have come a long way since then .

Looked around for decades at fire starter things and bought a tin kit from Backwoods Bikers which works really good using the provided striker. Yet for the money my home made waterproof matches are the best for me except for the B. B. tin kit which can burn longer. I save all the left over wax from candles that can't burn off all the wax and using about 2" wood matches and a couple cotton balls tare tufts of cotton and wrap the match then dip it in the wax, place on foil in rows of ten. Dip three times total. I make a hundred at a time and they burn about 5 minutes. Haven't made fireplace starters yet using egg cardboard like sections of the cups. We do use such torn into chunks however I've seen Boy Scouts section the egg carton cups and fill them with saw dust/wood chips and pour wax into the cups. Have about a quart of wax to give it a try this year. Betting it works great!

I have stocked up big time on the storm proof matches. I take them out of the boxes and put them in pill bottles. I cut the strikers and put them in the bottles also. Now i have matches that will work all over the place. Calif doesnt allow self striking matches. And no, no one can make sense of that.

How’s about survival indoors. It’s winter and cold and icy and snowy. How do you stay warm or generate heat in your home during an outage in the winter if you don’t have a fireplace or wood burner or generator. Last week here in western Pennsylvania we had an ice storm followed by heavy wet snow that overburdened the trees. A lot of them fell and took out the power lines and telephones. I stood on my deck and I heard tree after tree fall in the woods around me. 70,000 homes in my area went without power and telephones for a week. I was lucky. I have a gas stove that can comfortably heat my house. No power means no furnace or water or lights. It would be smart for people to have a source of clean water, food and heat to weather out an outage in their homes for a period of time. You can’t even get cell service where I live because of the hills. You just never know what circumstances you’re going to have to face. Try to be prepared.
