The amazing thing about this UConn run was that had they lost to St. Joseph's in the first round (and they needed that 3-point play at 11:44 just to force OT in that game), no one would have noticed. It would not have been considered an upset and no one really would have taken note of UConn's appearance in the 2014 tournament. They would just have been one of the teams that lost in the first round. No one would have looked at it like "Oh, if they could have beaten St. Joe's they could have gone all the way."
The NCAA tournament is all about surviving and advancing. As Boeheim once said after a tough 1st Rd. loss, if you could win a game like that there is no reason why you cannot win five more. And that Uconn team had the character to win close games.
In college basketball if you have great guards and enough upfront to do what needs to be done--you can contend every year. Its the guards when Uconn moved Calhoun out for another PG in Samuel--it changed the +- it was a different team that lost to Louisville and SMU. This was a team that was really depleted upfront yet we had enough to finish the job. What a great championship by a worthy hungry team
So sad to see how Uconn has declined over the years. I feel Kevin Ollie was a good coach for his first few years but failed to recruit and carry on the program after that
Greatest UConn highlight video of all time...thank you for uploading. Excellent! I was so into the video that 16 minutes maybe felt like 3 minutes. Thanks again.
nobody saw this coming hell of a run by uconn....lucky kentucky beat us though "louisville" because we would have repeated and beat uconn for a 4th time that year
