You know what? How great are the women that he’s coached? They all seem to be tremendous people who are successful in their lives and not just in basketball. And to a person, to a person, they all credit their experiences at UConn for a lot their success. The numbers are great. But this man does so much good for his players.
Two things come to mind. Geno still has the spirit and if he didn't it could have influenced his decision looking into the future. He truly wants to coach and I believe his enthusiasm to build a winner is still there. Very much still there. The other point is one that takes a multitude of things into consideration. Signing a 5 year contract is telling his players he will not be leaving, he will not be a lame duck coach. With his personal commitment to coach he wants his players to know he is with them 'all the way' and so any thoughts of 'will he be leaving?' are off the table. People can come with a few more ideas but the two thoughts I have to me are the most important. And, may I add, to have Paige on the squad with him to 'bind the team' into a cohesive unit, well we know what she will contribute in that regard, don't we?
Good on Coach Geno for calling out what's going on in the WNBA with Caitlyn Clark. I hope those pros figure it out soon and drop the abuse for their own good and the good of women's sports. Nobody give Boston that kind of rough time... no where close to the same extent.. so you know its not just about being a rookie.
@@brorick5472 Until one of the so-called bullies tells us the truth about why they treat Clark the way they have, it's nothing more than speculative talk. I have a high regard for Geno, but I still can separate opinion from facts. Go UConn bleed blue!
Despite all the platitudes and about-face remarks by Geno about Caitlin Clark, Personally I'd be taking my daughter out of UConn and getting her to play anywhere
Uconn still recruits magnificently. Virtually every year, a boatload of stellar talent is itching to play for the best to ever do it. If the three-year injury curse is finally receding, this man *is* going to snag more Nattys.
