Nice take. I watched vids before she went to IMG and she looked great, if her play has improved she's going to be scary good. Yes she seems like a real sweetheart as all the kids are that go to UCONN. I feel that since Geno has a new five year contract that shows stability for her and her family. ( that's probably what nixed it for Tenn. )
I think that if Azzi makes it all the way through this season healthy, she goes in the draft. Caroline may or may not play concussions are hard to overcome.
Personally, Somfai isn't really on my list. I like athleticism. I think that is something UConn really needs to focus on when it comes to recruiting. They are relying on other teams to beat South Carolina for them right now. Their obsession with skill and disregard for athleticism won't get the job done. Just my opinion. in the 2025 class, I would prefer for UConn to get Grace Knox. I think UConn is pretty much nailed on for Somfai and it would be a surprise if she chose Duke or Stanford. To me, this is similar to the Strong recruitment. UConn has been involved for a long time and has probably been giving Somfai a lot of suggestions about what they think she should do to grow/progress. I wouldn't be surprised at all if UConn coaches were the ones that suggested coming to the united states and enrolling at a high school basketball program. Also, there was a time UConn was in the mix for McGaughy, Somfai, and Macy. I think all somewhat similar. If I were ranking those three; I would put them in this order: 1. Macy 2. Somfai 3. McGaughy
Isn't Stanford kind of in a rebuilding state? Lost a lot to graduation and portal, new conference centered far away, with a new coach? Stanford would probably be the top academic choice and she might get more floor time as a freshman/sophomore.. But, UConn has that whole family vibe, maybe best player development system, you'll be playing for Final 4s and Championships off the go, you get your pick of mentor WNBA All Stars and HoF'ers, to be part of that legacy... Not that Stanford doesn't have a great history, but not UConn history and with Tara VanDerveer retiring there are questions. Duke, if that's her vib. They are getting the 'Dunk'n Canadian' Toby Fournier. That might be an enticing front court matching. Duke is quietly putting together a team for a 26-27 run. A lot smart athletic recruits who when you look at them together you see how they all fit together. They aren't S. Carolina or UConn level recruits but solid and mostly just need development. You should do a vid on Fournier and Duke. I watched a lot of Fournier and she is a unicorn physically, you get her Basketball IQ up a little and giver her some skills which she seems eager to acquire she could be something we've not seen. As an athlete she is the bundle of special abilities, attitude appears to be outstanding, but she needs a larger skill set. She gets even a passable long jump shot she'll be unstoppable. She's actually capable of playing above the rim as a 6'2 forward (just watch the vids on RU-vid), she can drive and finish but her midgame could still use some work, if she could pick up a better jump shot she could shoot over anyone and there would be nothing for it. She's a project for sure, but so is restoring a '61 Corvette; if you do it right look what you get.
Oh, and take my like for not having another another Caitlin Clark video clogging up my recommends. I like Clark so don't get me wrong but can we please talk a little basketball in the basketball community?
I hope I’m not jinxing my UCONN Huskies as I do see Lara Somfai as the first Australian UCONN Husky recruit. I love her size at 6’4” very much needed in our smallish front court. Even though her parents may prefer her to go to Stanford I think like Rebecca Lobo she will turn down the Stanford scholarship and come to basketball heaven at UCONN. I would like UCONN to continue to recruit and get the best international players but I wanna see UCONN recruiting hard in NY State area like they did previously as most of those recruits are very athletic and very skilled. Come on we can do both. I hope she comes to UCONN and see her game develop and prosper beyond expectations as we do need her size in that front court.
Hi l like to see her get the right college for her. Stanford not the same in Basketball every body is gone. Duke is rebuilding along way. UConn would be her best bet international players are just tough. Geno get all the players you can get you have 5 years there and South Carolina is right behind you.
Why she is a red shirt junior and hasn’t shown she can stay healthy in the college game..how would u survive in the W when they clearly beat you up in that league i.e. Caitlin Clark
I think it will mostly just depend on her draft stock. She'll probably make as much in NIL as her first contract playing over seas. Paige will be gone and I know there besties so IDK maybe she'll just be done with it.
Duke is recruiting really well. Roberson and Fournier last year. Nearly got strong. And this is coming off one of the best freshmen classes. Duke is coming. Would be shocked if somfai chose them though.
@@mrmojorisin8752 I have not seen the contract. (Is there a buy-out clause?) But Geno's 70 years old; how old was Tara Vanderveer when she hung 'em up? Also, Paige is a unique player. And she's senior. Etc.
@@jeffreyhamilton1052 Geno can retire whenever he wants with no penalty. I could see him leaving if we win it all next year, and with Paige leaving. On the other hand, he’s said consistently that he’ll coach so long as he sees the fun and the fire within, and there’s been zero drop off there. I’m guessing he made some sort of commitment to Sarah Strong and her parents. My guess? We have him for at least two more seasons, then he decides year by year whether it’s time for a change. I’d be pleasantly surprised if he stayed the full five years, but who knows?
Yes, please free CC! Right now she's being held hostage by a Cult of Stans and Simps making her look entitled and arrogant to the rest of the Basketball Community. Free her so she can earn what she deserves instead of having it handed to her in a wad of sticky socks.
Clark is free. Free from playing defense. Free from an acceptable field percentage (37%). Free from an acceptable 3 point percentage (33%). Free from being held accountable for all her turnovers (leads the WNBA).
One can only talk about Clark because past Clark they've got limited knowledge about the overall sport of basketball. These people aren't followers of the WNBA but are disciples of Cult Clark.
