Uconnect 8.4 Swap Upgrade Speedy's Garage 

I just completed this upgrade and also broke one of the plastic clips away from the bezel. Thanks for the JB Kwik tip, which worked great to repair the clip. The new unit is great for my 2017!

A little late to the party. I just acquired a 2006 Magnum SRT8 and stumbled on to your channel because the radio from the interior was gutted by the previous owner and and I'm trying to get it back to stock. Although it's way older then your Challenger an a different beast, you post a lot of good information that I can use. Mostly that up until a total model change not many changes from year to year with interiors and wiring. good stuff to know. Your garage and set-up are awesome! I only wish I could have my garage as organized as yours! LOL!

I have the exact same 2016 hellcat With the same options Mine is plum crazy with the Matt black hood I really appreciate your videos they help me out tremendously I have been interested in upgrading my radio also But whenever I tried to research it I kind of ran into a block wall and was told it cannot be done Thanks again speedy this is awesome

Thanks for the video demonstration! Nice to know that swap will work. Car of that caliber is worth spending the money. I’d be more excited, but 17 Charger RT never had the performance pages turned on, so it would be a wasted upgrade.

There is another difference that separates the hellcats built in 15-16 the intake is smaller and not a cone rather just using the head light and box vs 17 and up srt had the genius idea of switching to map sensors which allowed them to fit a fat intake that is sealed off from the engine bay except integrated the hood as a ram along with the light which is where the 10 hp comes from and by far superior in design. I have a 16 and that was one of the things I’m stuck with. Good video man, thanks for the knowledge. 👍

Nice little upgrade. I had my 20 Redeye for 2 whole months before I figured out how to load up different gauges on one page. When on the Performance Pages, select Home button and you can edit 4 gauges to display on Home. Touch the upper left of each gauge to select what you want for each one. There is a small rectangle with a line through it on each corner maybe a edit logo??

Speedy another awesome video, you can change those gauges to what you want if you click that home at the top and then push and hold on each gauge you can then go through a list and select which one you want at each location, hopefully that helps you

Nice video. I have a 2020 Uconnect in my 2016. Just an FYI, my understanding is the BCM is part of the puzzle but the car needs satillite

One thing to note. Those small plugs on the back of the radio unit can be a pain to take off sometimes. If you try to force it it will break the piece off of the radio. This isn't bad if the old radio is bad or won't use it again but if you want to keep it as a back up be careful 👍

I've got a 2015 Charger SXT Plus. I've seen the part where you say that it might not work with 2015 Challenger unless changing some parts :/ . Awesome video by the way I learned really really alot of stuff! I want to get Apple Car play in my car as it feels easier than navigation and not as outdated. But seems I can't 😔

Now, I noticed that your screen did not delaminate. I have a 2018 and the screen of mine delaminated, I'm sure you have heard of this. Just so you know, I got a brand new radio out of warranty with a " good faith replacement" through Dodge. I spent a bit of time emailing them and getting my ducks in a row, but I got a new radio for free. Just an fyi. Also, if you would have just waited, all of that would have come back eventually. I think it has something to do with number of key cycles and key being away from the car.

To switch the gauges, press and drag them.

My I/C Coolant temp is doing the exact same thing. No idea why. I was told to do a few key cycles (power on and off, in a sense), but it didnt change over the course of 3 weeks.

Here in ny . The Hell Cat with the dealer mark up $120,000 . I have a 2016 RT plus and was looking to trade it in for the HC . Was you guys are nuts . It would be cheaper to drop a Hell Cat in my 2016

I want to do this swap in my 2016 Challenger SRT392 but I need to know if by using OEM parts I will be able to retain the Uconnect functions in the app. I like the remote start and locking features in the app.

I have an 18 charger hellcat & my GPS went bad....replaced the radio & my ic temp doesn't work on the srt pages either....maybe you can figure out how to get it back....love all your vids....

Just start the car and hit display..the car will recognize the car..its real simple..it takes just a few mins..I have a 2016 hellcat and I installed a 2018 radio years ago..drive it, turn the car off and then restart it..everything will reprogram to SRT in time..

I have a 2017 Hellcat Challenger and my screen has recently started to delaminate at a fast pace, I was just going to purchase a new screen and swap it but after seeing this I’d rather go the same route, is it really just plug N play? I’m tuned with Diablo if it makes any difference since you said you have aftermarket PCM as well.

Hey In a 2016 srt 392 I still have a stock radio that’s outdated with 3g. Am I able to upgrade that and keep the srt pages and track mode options on the screen?

I have a '15. Some of the features still haven't been solved yet by the new uConnect software.

Were you able to get the hp to display on the red key page? I added a 23 headunit to my 17 and it had been great but now it just says red instead of hp. Some online say hptuners only lets you change it for 18+but I’m not sure if matters since it’s a 23 headlight.

No one says what year radio they bought. Ok, you bought the uconnect 8.4 brand new. So you typically see a year radio for compatibility. Did you put in 2022 Hellcat?? Or 2019 RT, or what? I would assume you didn't look for 2016. Thanks

Awesome video. Do you know if the cellular connection is working? My '16 uses 3G and since that's been decommissioned, it no longer works. Does the new head unit give you 4G cellular connectivity to run the apps and remote start etc....?

Hey Speedy ..love the very informative video .I myself have a 2016 Scat pack Shaker and i've been looking to upgrade my radio for a LOOOONG time but was too afraid to attempt it fearing it wasn't compatible and would screw every thing up ..very expensive mistake to make lol....but you inspired me to pull the trigger and do it ... just one thing i didn't see you test the USB ports.. i mostly play my music on USB flash drive sticks with MP3s that i down load off my computer ..that would be a deal breaker for me if they didn't respond ...AND ..my current radio doesn't load any of my music past what my 32GB sticks hold is there a limit ?? i've got thousands more MP3s loaded on my 64GB and 128GB usb sticks ...IF you or ANYBODY out there knows if the newer radio will load this capacity of MP3s the info will be greatly appreciated ..i'm sure i'm not the only one out there with this question/dilemma .hopefully some one will test it and find out and answer back ..SPEEDY thanks again for the video and keep em coming ..you just got yourself a new SUBSCRIBER

Man, I need help. I have a 2015 RT challenger and I swapped radios with my buddy he had a 2018 hellcat challenger. Everything works but my heated and cooled seats, back up camera, and my sport mode button and I’ve driven at least 100 miles on it and left it plugged in the car for at least two weeks, I cannot figure out why this isn’t working. I am starting to get freaked out since I don’t have my factory Rado anymore even my local dealership they don’t know what’s going on any help would be greatly appreciated.
