I want to clarify something. Easy Mode isnt the best for this soul badge. It's still better than lightning specs easy mode. If you want to use simple mode you will get more DPS out of Paragon SoulBadge. Which is not obtainable with Martial Tokens. You will need to farm Tower of Infinity and You will need to buy The tokens to fuse the two badges. I forget which two badges fuse for that badge.
The reason lightning is more punishing if you miss your rotation is that most of the damage is from bursting. And if you miss your burst you miss the bulk of your damage.
Fire bursts just as well, but it bursts SLOWER than lightning.
One more big thing, regardless of the spec you play. Your weapon stacks will reset some/most/all of your skills. So be aware that when the timer starts on your weapon you'll be doing your max DPS so plan your bursts for that time. And when that timer ends many of your skills like Meteor shower and Incinerate will come off cooldown again. So be prepared to manually cast them.
