Ueno Park dates back to 1632, when more than 100 cherry seedlings were planted on the precincts of Kan'eiji Temple. It was opened to the public in 1698 and became the first cherry blossom viewing spot in Edo (old name of Tokyo), and was opened as a park in 1876 after the Meiji Restoration.
The charm of Ueno's cherry blossoms is the rich landscape and the mixture of the sacred and the secular.
There is a cross-shaped cherry blossom promenade that runs north-south, and an east-west route from Kiyomizu Kannon-do Hall on the hill to Ukimid-o Hall and down to Shinobazu-no-ike Pond. The museum area and the two temple's halls along the east-west route are sacred places. The area around Sakura-dori Street, around which people hold parties, and the front of Ukimido Gate, where many food stalls are lined up, are secular places. The richness of the landscape provides a variety of cherry blossom scenes. Among them, the narrow bank of Shinobazu-no-ike Pond is lined with cherry blossom trees, with the water landscape on both sides, making it a cherry blossom viewing spot unlike any other in Tokyo.
One Take like actually taking a walk.

It must be from last year. We went to the Shinjuku Gyoen National Park yesterday 3/30 and there was only one tree for the entire park that was actually blooming in full. Disappointed.

No. It was shot in 2022. This year the cherry blossoms are not fine due to the severe weather in the last summer.

It's essential to be respectful when photographing cherry blossoms. Manipulating the branches can be seen as disrespectful, as cherry blossoms hold cultural significance in Japan.
