Interesting fight to revisit... It's the only Diaz fight I can remember where Diaz couldn't just walk the opponent down & tire him out, and didn't even try. He had to try & goad Silva forward with the taunting, but Silva was always a counter fighter. By the start of round three, it looked like Diaz just didn't know what to do without the usual blueprint of head-games, cardio & massive output. By the time the fifth rolled around, the taunting just looked pointless because there was no output behind it. Still, gotta respect Diaz for moving up & taking on the Spider when a lot of guys didn't want to fight him. Silva got to get back on his feet after that unbelievable nasty broken leg, too.
@Mike Funk As far as I can see it was a counter-stricking match. You can think whatever the hell you want, those men were doing fakes, step in and out, and trying to make one another the fatal mistake, which didn't happen. How do you call that smartass? It's not because Diaz usually pushes forward that he's not a counter-stricker. Especially when he faces high level stirkers, as I said. I follow this dude since his IFC title.

Some crazy comments. It’s not a street fight. If Silva wants to utilise the space and pick Diaz off that’s up to him. Yeah it’s great to watch two brawlers in the O, but why would Silva want to risk losing and getting his face bashed in. Diaz should have spent less time trying to rile Silva into a brawl and made more of an effort to take him to the ground. Khabib would have taken the risk of getting inside the reach advantage and committed to the takedown, and probably exhausted and battered the fight out of Silva. Probably is the key word in the last sentence, cos Silva is probably the most fluid striker, ever.
Nick is the greatest fighter in the world. Everyone ( including Silva) refuses to stand and go toe to toe. They may for a few exchanges but eventually they break away and reset. Nick walks everyone down inviting them into a brawl and no one has the guts to go against him. They all try to point fight him. Those who have tried to brawl with him ( Cyborg, Dailey , Penn, esc ) get finished. BJ may or not been finished in that fight but he took more damage in that 15 minutes than all of his title fights of 25 min.
I think I just learned Brazilian at the end of the 3rd round, Silvia’s corner man said, and I quote... “this mother fucker has figured out that you don’t want to fight... you’re going to have to start acting this next round!”... I’m still new at the Brazilian language, but I’m pretty sure that’s what he say....
The lesson to take away from this, it's okay to take steroids & continue to fight & earn money but marijuana will get you suspended & cost you thousands of dollars in fines.
I feel like Nick Won that fight if it weren’t for Silva juiced to the bone, Nick would’ve finished him. Silva fought like Yoel and Adesanya put together just Standing there and only countering not doing anything and running and backing up like wtf dude🤦♂️

I forgot how boring this fight was. The passive monk vs the bong zombie. Not one real take down attempt. Silva fought 5 years too long. The drunk screaming girl was the best thing about the fight. They should have both been disqualified.

Most boring ufc fight ive ever seen not the first take down or knock down but I do feel Silva totally dominated the extremely overrated Diaz and beat Him at His own game.
Fought smart and went for points. I dont think he was scared, to me it looked like diaz didnt do shit the whole fight while silva landed punches/kicks constantly

I'm shattered. That's was a crap fight. Both walked away as much as each other. Surprised. Silva won that fight. Almost every round, maybe Nick first.. Couldn't care less of facts after fight, only judging what i just watched.

Then i hear Silva ran, ok he run while landing at will, diaz fucked around the whole fight. Not hearing one word about he could have engaged and brought it. Been watching ufc for a long time and Im still baffled why the Diaz brothers get so much praise, don't they have close to 20 lossee between them?
They are authentic bad ass fighters that back down from no one . .. Came from nothing and developed world class skill while never changing for anyone.. Praise? They are both legends of the sport.
