Luke Thomas live reaction: UFC 304 Leon Edwards was dominated by Belal Muhammad in their battle for the UFC welterweight while Tom Aspinall blitzed Curtis Blaydes in the interim UFC heavyweight title. Great performance by Belal but still felt something was off with Leon tonight. He might lose but he never fights stupid. This is the first time I saw him making the same mistakes and not pro-actively taking it to Belal. And still it was 3-2 to Belal for me. I think he kills Belal in the re-match and takes it back. But props to the 36 yo champ!

I can understand people disliking Belal due to his boring fight style and sometimes corny personality, but I don’t understand the HATE for this guy. Seems like an overall decent guy, and he has earned everything he’s done the hard way, including tonight. He deserves respect and credit, especially when everyone, including myself, were counting him out in this fight.

Im genuinely curious what the betting line of Jones/Aspinall would be. My guess would be very close to a pick em. I actually think Aspinal would be ever-so-slightly favored, maybe -120 Aspinall // +105 Jones. Something like that. Pure speculation tho.

They gave Leon a fighter they can’t stand (both stylistically and politically) a massive road game in a damage over control era. And Leon still got handled in a mostly blah fight for 3.75 out of 5 rounds. No chance they would give a rematch, they’ll be dying to feed Belal to Shavkat even if it’s on inconvenient timing for Belal (O’Malley v Sterling style).

I don't even disagree with having the fight time appropriate for local fans, but even having it at 3am, they showed up. They will lose out on a bunch of sport bard not buying it and Americans really wouldn't fuck with it. They don't care about doing a solid, their job is to make as much money on every event. The arena looked damn near sold out so, the fans may complain but they didn't boycott by not spending money. That's the only way to get a change.

Mental toughness won that fight. Leon is talented but he has a propensity to choke under pressure. Belal is undersized and somewhat limited on the feet but he has a heart made of adamntium.
