joydivsion77 the way I heard that story was that Seagal had two or three Sherpas with him but a major storm came up after the Yeti beat down and they ended up getting stuck up the mountain. The tragic result was that in order to stay fully nourished Seagal had to eat the Sherpas thus losing the only witnesses to that Yeti beat down. Yeah it was all so intense that Seagal almost had to spend a night on the mountain.

I have trained myself a lot and worked in security. And I have had to use martial arts skills in many real life situations, so I respect skills even when not the person. I can see why Seagal is mocked, but I wouldn't want to fight him, he is even today dangerous man for most if bare handed, even though old and obese.

My dad was 2 time canadian Judo champion and went to olympics, always said any judoka can kick an Aikido guys ass, but that there was still some moves they have that work and are worthy of training. William K He wouldn't do well in the cage vs MMA fighters, but his style (Aikido) has a purpose... against armed robbers and such. His style would work better vs some dude holding a knife to your throat; better than Muy Thai or JuiJitsu. Maybe not as good as Judo, though.

William Do you know of any fighters in UFC (or any other MMA franchise) that have a background in Aikido? People in MMA tend to train for MMA. People who train in Aikido tend to do if for different reason, other then competition (defense, exercise, etc). That may have something to do with why you don't see people use Aikido in MMA.

Well.aikido is lime that and you would be suprised how your body reacte when your hand gets put under certain preasure but again its purely a defensive art so if you grab someone who know wat there doing then if they grab your hand in time they will manipulate it in a way where its very painful and your body will move with that pain but offensivly it has nothing so its an art which is best combined with something else

people need to find out about Aikido to become a master you must go through what is called a randori in like other martial arts it is where four of the same level people attack you all at the same time and you must defend yourself and beat all four at the same time to be considered an Aikido master. but like I said before funny no one talked shit when Steven Seagal was in his prime lol what a joke.

Strider Sky lol let me guess you take Karate and that is why you think it is the best lol. The truth is any form is great it all depends upon the individual. Example you take someone who has studied Karate for 20yrs. the weekend warrior way lol as I would say. Then take someone in another martial art that has lived, eat, drink, piss, and pooped it for half as long like 10yrs. Most of the time like 9/10 the one who had 10yrs will beat the one that has 25yrs. Because on an individual basis the 10yr person took it seriously and worked hard at it. Just a thought

I know all about Seagal and that he might not tell the truth here. I grew up watching his movies so I respect him no matter. I still think he could fuck up a lot of people especially in his prime. He is still skilled at his art and could snap some shit. Once you have a broken wrist you might just be fucked against a imposing man like him. Also it is very possible that he shit his pants ;) lol. ive done a tiny bit of aikido, and it can be very effective, but im not sure if it would be great in an mma fight. The thing i think that it has an advantage is you could catch someone with a move they haven't seen. for instance, aikido movements typically don't have any telegraph, they just go. you can see this in the training videos seagal did with machida. so of course they have some good moves that work. my issue with aikido was that i felt the training style where i tried it was very unrealistic and too broad. it would take you far longer to be able to whoop some ass with aikido as opposed to boxing or bjj. of course if you are decent at aikido you could destroy an average joe probably, lol.

All those names lol alot of them fake fighters. Steven Seagal has never had a recorded fight in any martial arts just a guy who buys belts. There is also no evidence that Bruce Lee fought anyone other than a highschool boxing tournament for all anyone actually knows he's just a great actor who can't actually fight. At least Jean and Norris have real fight records that can be confirmed.
