Joanna saying she has no technique, implying she's just some brawler with power, is going to be her downfall in this fight. The same arrogance that led to her defeats to Rose. Zhang is EXTREMELY technical in all areas and Joanna's going to find that out very quickly.
It comes down to whether Joanna can dictate the range for 5 rounds, without Weili being able to close the cap meaningfully. That's a tall order. Should be a great fight. I hope Joanna comes prepared and is not delusional Joanna.
Such a beast. Technical, powerful and precise. Inspired by Ronda Rousey. That speaks volumes. Joanna doesn't brawl though and keeps range like a sniper. Leg kicks need to be checked immediately. Cheering for Zang but Joanna is a beast in her own right.
eeeeyah... so much speed and power in such a compact package... Three years ago, we knew this remarkable woman would be a strawweight or flyweight champion. Her fight with Shevchenko will be one for the ages, hear it now believe it later.....
Thank you for sharing! Through the translater made some small mistakes which I want to point out: 1) Weili started learning Chinese Shanda at an age of 13 instead of 15; 2) UFC called Weili once before instead of "a few times".
holy cow this girl is a savage! it's like the movie kickboxer with jean claude when tong po is kicking the piller and cement is falling down from the ceiling he's so powerful. that's what it reminded me of seeing her kick the pads with so much power. gees I love Joanna so much and I love this girl I don't want either to loose. I want to see Weili fight Valentina at some point. fuck Nunes she is too big.
I think she is going to be a great champion and would love to see her fight Thug Rose who is my favourite female fighter, I could spend the whole fight watching her amazing footwork.
Mark Croft that’s a title fight I think should happen, if Rose wants it, I think she could’ve prob gotten a rematch on Jessica, she was winning the fight until Jessica panicked and body slammed her. Which isn’t something that’s always going to work, especially not twice, I’d rather see Rose than Joanna fight Zhang
@@trinity3422 couldn't agree with you more. I think Rose is a fast learner and wouldn't make the same mistake twice. I feel that she is a confidence fighter and Jessica rocked her and really shook her up. Hopefully time has worked to put it behind her and she can come back much stronger. Which would be amazing to watch.
Zhang reminds me of Tom Poe from Kick-boxer kicking those pads, kicking that pilon in the middle of room when Van dames brother goes looking for water and catches him kicking that stone post 😂
Strong women are soo attractive, epitome being Zhang Weili. Her fights in the ufc dont really do her justice (except of coarse vs Adrade) she is DEMON, and will no doubt be champ for a spell.
I'm sure that she's capable of beating Joanna but I think people are getting a bit carried away with how good she is. Apart from her title fight her record isn't that of a dominant fighter, competing against the elite and crushing everyone. Just take a look at her record, she faced unranked fighters in the UFC and wasn't demolishing them, and before the UFC who is the biggest name that she defeated? Joanna may be past her best (and may lose) but she's been fighting at the very top for years now.
Definitely somewhat true , in the fight world the last performance is usually magnified and overshadows the body of work good or bad however one thing that Weili has over majority of fighters is extreme toughness and heart. Those 2 things are massive tools in her game, not to mention her ground work is way above average and she has the power to strip confidence and breakdown opponents will. With that said I do agree that she is being a little bit over hyped at the moment. I really like her and she’s a great champion and I mean zero disrespect and it’s just an opinion which could be dead wrong but I do agree, however Joanna is making a mistake tho if she’s going to engrave in her mind that she’s just a brawler with power. Watching from the outside , I can see where she’s coming from but if looking closely and in the fight I’m sure her past opponents now knows..... her seemingly wild swings sometimes are a lot more calculated than it looks, she picks the right time and she’s pretty dam fast, plus mixes it up pretty well. There’s a reason why Joanna didn’t want to fight her when she was champ. Weili also is seeming to improve every fight and strives to improve. Against a high level striker like Joanna we will learn a lot more of what Weili is made of skill wise... If a Weili picks her apart on the feet over a decent duration of time as opposed to a quick Ko then I eat my words , of a quick KO occurs we then have to see her vs Rose to determine .... either way can’t wait !
Danielle taylor is no name but jessica aguilar was a big name back in the day. Definitely past her prime. Tecia torres is a known name and jj fought her too right after the rose fight so she was another top contender. People are just excited about some new blood because if you look at the division its basically the same women fighting each other and passing around the belt.
That's true. It's just the beginning of tough challenges. No matter what happens, she's made history already for Chinese fighters who are on the way to MMA.
@Tupac Nation You just emphasised what I am saying. Joanna has so much experience at the elite level while Weili doesn't. That's my whole point. People just dismissing Joanna because of Weili's last performance.
@Tupac Nation If Weili wins or Joanna wins nothing is going to change in my life. I don't use other people's victories or failures to feel better about myself. Whoever wins is just fine with me. I have no allegiance to either fighter.
Not a TV show. It was the theme song from a Jet Li movie called the Swordsman. Pretty classic stuff from the 90's. This was not from the gym. Weili's home gym is in Beijing and they would be playing mandarin (putonhua) songs if anything, not Hong Kong cantonese songs.
@@Ironfangzu Oh yah yah. Well that's what I suspected. But I was also hoping that for some reason Weili secretly is a fan of classic Hong Kong movies. Lol.
If Weili beats JJ, i know Rose and Suarez are around, but i'd be really interested to see how she does against Valentina considering she seemingly has no competition at 125.
Currently , I just see Nunez for Valentina. Love Weili but I don’t think she’s a match for Valentina unless Valentina came down to SW, which if what Valentina says her walk around weight is true ( not much over 125) , then SW is realistic for Valentina , then it would be very interesting. With that said tho, Joanna did look pretty big and strong @ 125 so who knows... ( of course Valentina picked bar apart and overpowered her as expected) But for Joanna, she did look bigger and stronger than she ever did imho. I’d hate to see them against eachother as I’d hate to see either lose but if Weili gets past Joanna and Rose very convincingly then it would get really interesting! Cause other than those 2, I don’t see anyone causing much problems for Weili @ SW.
Welcome to American Zhang! I know you will beat Joanna in MMA, I think if you didn't get into MMA you definitely could have been a model your so beautiful! I'm a jiu jitsu guy so if you ever come to New Orleans I would like to roll with you!
JJ seems like shes in it for the fame now, maybe turning into the fame engulfed female version of McGregor. On the other hand, Zhang seems to be enjoying every moment of training and just the sport overall.
@@bruceim3290 she has alot of power in those short arms for sure. You dont hear straw weights banging on the door to fight her..she might have to move up weight to get naive contenders that think they can beat her..not enough talent and courage at 115..yet.
@@DanHardyFR Translator: She wants to know if she can hang out in your country until this THING blows over. She said Tony is the type of guy who demanded China to tear down its Wall. And She said her name is not Yan Xiaonan...you b*tches. Just jokes..we love ya weili zhang!
The translate is accurate enough to include all her points, but Weili shows more respect when talking about Joanna, For example she said: ''She(JJ) might think I am stronger than her'' instead of saying that she is just stronger than Joanna
@@DanHardyFR ok thank you guys I was willing to help translate or correct English to put the captions in the video as she speaks. Ultimately we are all appreciative of the viewpoints and cinematography. Thanks for the inspiration. See you on the battlefield.
If she wins against JJ I hope she stays in the division for a while before looking for a fight with the bullet as good as she is I don't think she's ready for Valentinian yet.
Zhang is looking great for this fight, I think she’s going to be too much for Joanna, just as technical, more power.. Edit: anyone else rather see Thug Rose fight Zhang than Joanna? 🤔
If JJ uses the same game plan she did against Andrade it should be a easy fight for her, if not, its going to be a bad day for JJ. This is actually a perfect match up for JJ, and if you go back and watch JJ vs Andrade you'll see why.
keyser soze You have no idea. Andrade and Zhang are two different animals similar only in striking power. Zhang is well versed on her feet and the ground while having superior footwork. Andrade walks in a striaght line while throwing bombs recklessly. A style that is only effective if you stay in the pocket with her. Joanna knew better. Zhang is the perfected version of what Andrade could be if she stepped her game up. Joanna ain't gonna do to Zhang what she did to Andrade. Take heed.
@@wilykat Andrade got herself knocked out, Zhang just happened to catch her while she was running away from Andrade. I've seen fighters do that so many times over the years that to this day I just do not understand the, run at your opponent leading with your chin strategy, it fails more times than it works. That being said, if JJ can keep the fight standing, she'll win by decision, all she has to do is keep Zhang out of reach and just sit back and give her boxing lesson, if it goes to the ground, it will not end well for JJ. JJ has some of the best combinations followed by a quick front kick as good as anybody in the UFC, she just doesn't have one punch knockout power, probably doesn't have 2, 3, 4, punch knockout power, which is why she's going to have to use those kicks to keep Zhang off of her. I had never even heard of this girl before, so I watched all of her fights that are on youtube before I came to my conclusion of what I think will happen. JJ has to keep this fight standing to win. But hey, it's MMA, anything can happen. Zhang's a beast. I'm looking forward to watching it regardless of who wins.
keyser soze Even if Joanna keeps the fight standing, there's no guarantee that she'll win by decision. That's her only way to win and Zhang knows this. That's why she intends to finish her. I respect Joanna's striking and footwork but she's never fought someone of Zhang's calibre so I don't know why people like to bring up Andrade like she and Zhang are the same when they're not. Zhang's fight IQ is higher than hers. Andrade didn't knock herself out Weili countered the shit out of her. That's like me saying that Rose beat herself when Andrade slammed her on her head. No,Rose didn't let go of her arm and Andrade did what she did to win. Rose was winning the fight before that and did a helluva lot more damage to Andrade than Joanna did before the fate sealing slam. But Andrade got the win. I won't shit on her win by calling it luck or whatever. When she fights Rose again though I don't see Rose making that mistake again. On an end note,I forsee a war between Zhang & Joanna which is fine by me. But if Joanna isn't careful Zhang can indeed end the fight before it gets to the championship rounds or even if it does. Joanna would have to outstrike Zhang significantly to get a decision and it'll be have to be a split decision because I don't see it being by unanimous.
