@@defunctuserchannel It will be a coffee table book. UFO should have been hugely huger than they were. They wipe the floor with so many bands that kept getting shoved down our throats by radio and the music press.
I tell people that all the time . They were there right at the start of metal. Never here UFO on TV, films or Ads, unlike many other bands. So overlooked.
UFO's greatness around this time is entirely due to the fact they were an ensemble. Shenker rips, yes, but Mogg is uncanny, anchored by Way and Parker and Raymond. this performance is epic, gives me goosebumps every time.
@@V3ntilator And I say ‘hello’ back. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Schenker’s work but Paul was a point of difference. He sang great, played great guitar as well as keyboards. Other bands had great guitarists but not many had someone like Paul. He added a extra layer that other bands lacked.
man I can't believe it. This is the best live band of all time. I had no idea this existed. This line up was IT. No other band I know of sounded so much better than their studio recordings in concert.
@@jasonstewart2590 Yes, after they did Lovedrive, they should have, but Michael didn't want play someone else's lead breaks night after night, he wanted to do his own thing, so he left and started MSG, and thank God he did, because we got some brilliant albums from them too.
20! Isn't that crazy? After he ditched UFO (bad mistake - they had all the right ingredients for a household supergroup!) he was great on LOVE DRIVE but his solo stuff was a letdown for me. I couldn't even tell you a name of any of his songs they were so MOR mmeehhh. (I'm sorry!) Love this band though!
I was lucky enough to see them with Michael a couple of times. He's every bit as awesome live as you would expect him to be. He made this band what it was.
Man, this is an absolute gem! Brings back so many memories of when hard rock/metal was just taking off. People today give Metallica waaaayy too much credit for the emergence of metal, but look no further than bands like UFO who were ripping just as hard for their time!
I don't give Metallica ANY credit for the "emergence of metal" - I think you're talking about youngsters who don't know about Sabbath, Purple, Heep, and Zep...
@@DunmoresMovieManiaompletely agree. To me metal started in the mid 60's. Even before bands like Sabbath or Zeppelin. Deep Purple and Cream are just 2 examples. Deep Purple should be on the Mt. Rushmore of Metal. They are so forgotten in this regard.
I remember to see this band live when I was kid in Lyon. I miss the time when bands where just music in dirty concert hall with no advertisement and merchandising. Pure rock!
I was at Strangers when it was recorded, Friday the 13th October, 1978, and listening to Michael's leads here STILL gives me goose bumps. His US tour kicks off tomorrow night in Redondo Beach, California and I'll see at least 3 of these shows. I've seen him well over 50 times, and NEVER been disappointed! He's been my favorite since '75, the first time I saw him. Long live Michael Schenker!
One of my favorite Kick- Ass bands in the world. Would love to see them live. Just great Hard Rock and influenced many bands like Def Lepperd and Iron Maiden. Come on guys come to America one more time PLEASE Glenn Augustyn
I have only 'stumbled' upon this metal masterpiece (thanks Sirius) and I have been to many, many concerts... This is a waaaay underrated, overlooked, hidden golden work of metal wonder, unless, alas, I was once again late to the party (no surprise there!) ... This guy burns (all apologies) and I can so hear those licks in those '80's burns and beyond... WOW!!!
Man it's so sad that these days you no longer see any band with such great chemistry or stage presence and action as UFO or any of the other classic oldies :
Agree with the guy who said UFO and uriah heep..so underated in 70s..both brilliant live..this was my favourite UFO line up .shenker was magical..and mogg great front man .pete way great bass player RIP pete .🙏🎸🎵🎶
ive listened to this song since i was little. my dad would always play it :) love michael schenker. hes one of the the few nowadays who actually have talent...
Just me thinking here, the "Lights Out' album came out in '77, a year before Van Galen's debut did. From all I've read and heard over 40+ years, quite a few great guitarists were intimidated by Eddie. With all due respect to Eddie, and he's one of my all-time favorites, I seriously doubt Michael was intimidated at all! This is my long-winded way of saying that Michael didn't play 2nd to anybody. IMO, he's as good a rock guitarist as anybody and better than most!
My first ever concert was seeing UFO live in Edinburgh way back when, on their last UK tour with Michael Schenker. Saw them a few times after that with Chapman, but although they were great, one of my all time favourite rock bands, they didn`t quite have the same bite as they had with Michael. Thinks me that Obsession is the best rock album ever, which should have catapulted them supersonic.
No flash, just kick ass guitar playing. The metal bands of the 80's, and 9o's owe more to guys like Schenker, Iommi, Blackmore and others than they can ever give back. LONG LIVE MSG!!!
Love how you never see Michael's face clearly during the solo. He was truly a man of mystery! Did anyone notice that Phil skipped ahead a verse at 1:23 but corrects himself. Didn't ever notice Paul Raymond was a lefty either. Awesome!
You know your listening to a great band when they sound just as good as their recordings. Great vocals, and very clean guitar work..Now this is what Hard Rock should sound like!!! Im 47 and this still gets my HEADBANGING!!
Ah, the Schenker brothers! What a talented couple of dudes: Michael playing lead guitar here and his brother Rudolph, of Scorpions. This is a great tune.
Lost count how many times I seen these in the 80's stunning band still kick ass schenker was awesome for the time.....obbession still one of the most underated albums of all time...
Such a trip that this talent goes unseen. I never knew this band existed up until about a month ago!

Imagine being there when ufo, michael schenker group, scorps, rainbow, Deep purple and the rest were tearing it up? It was a great time to be 20 and a metal head.
I was there to see it all..I miss those days.. best time of my life

Well said brother. Every time I get to thinking this modern worlds people are complete assholes, I crawl in my bubble and crank up the best music in history. It's still alive and well in our souls if we keep it alive.
Who has more emotion, feel, melodic, tone, vibrato, and memorable leads? Schenkers songs with UFO are brilliant, full of emotion. The recordings don't lie. Stranger in the Night is one of the top 3 live hard rock albums of the 70's. Easy. Vinnie Moore, please, insignificant.
