The Stage 1 theme from Touhou 12: Undefined Fantastic Object
Funny thing - around the time I used to actually play Touhou games regularly (2012-ish?) I remember playing this game quite a lot even though it was hard. So this theme just immediately illicits warm feeling from me when I hear it w
But, I also used to chew a certain flavoured gum around that time while playing. The flavour has been discontinued since then, but I can taste the flavour of it when I hear this theme... isn't that strange?

I can't quite put it why but this song has an autumn kind of feeling, especially the very beginning piano part. Perhaps because I started playing this game around autumn. What's funny is that the song is called At the End of Spring, I started playing Touhou in summer and played UFO in particular in autumn.

Interesting! I love how Touhou songs can always conjure such strong memories about where each of us were when we first listened to them For me, this one has always had a bit more of a "End of Winter / Beginning of Spring" feel to it -- whenever I listen, I get reminded of the first days in late March / early April when the air warms up, the first crocuses begin to bloom, and only a few scattered patches of snow remain on the ground

ZUN's comment on the track: "The stage 1 theme. I wanted to start with something nice and casual, so this is how it came out. I guess bright songs just aren't that great for shooting games? Or so say people whose likes and tastes change at the time with their moods. It's so invigorating that it makes me want to fly out the window." *Notes: 春の湊 - Literally "harbor of spring" or "harbor where spring is going to sail" (a poetic phrase for the end of spring)

This literal translation is a really nice touch! It kind of ties with the ship theme of the game (palanquin ship, Minamitsu Murasa...).

Touhou stage 1 themes always have these newfound hope sounds to them despite being so hard. This and darkblowhole are probably my favorite despite being prime examples of this, lol.

I remember first hearing this song in a Super Mario World ROM hack years ago. It was actually those SMW renditions of these songs that got me to check out Touhou in the first place. Makes me kind of nostalgic listening to this again.

Another relaxing but cheerful theme! This Stage 1 theme is just perfect to listen after waking up on a Saturday morning, before the your day starts for real. As the track's name implies, it's the moment before Summer, when it's still Spring, but the things commonly related with it, already ended (not only literally, but also subjectively). These are the things I feel and relate to when I hear this theme. No wonder it's one of my favorites Stage 1 themes too...

i love the piano at the beginning in this theme, but it kinda brings back negative memories cause i tried to beat this game so many times and failed that it just wasn't fun playing it anymore
